Dear users
i just uploaded the 1.2.6 update in the usual update section, this update brings the new vray 2.0 core, the new proxy 2 feature with even faster and easier to use proxies (support for selections tags in proxies, netrender and animation!)
as a special we also added a fur and hair generation module that let anybody also without maxon hair generate fibers, grass, fur and hair, also animated.
also we did many optimizations and code cleanups of the bridge code, and we finalized the transitions to have the bridge vrscene compatible in internal data format (this is for now only internally, vrscene export comes in 1.5 then)
new are also new "point and shoot GI presets for still and also animation, for those who dont want to touch any GI setting, just choose and use an preset and render:-)
ersion, it is by the way the first of a triple update, the next is 1.3 with new multipass and 1.5 with DR which are also in the pipeline based on 1.2.6/vray core2.0 code

This came out at the perfect time for us! Thanks to Stefan, Renato and co for their great work. Looking forward to putting it through its paces :)
Can't wait to install it, and test the fences! Especially when C4D 13 gets here next month!

i just added the info in the download, as big user wish we also added direct support for the "perfect sphere" object, it will render direct now- no conversion needed.

im RenderTab GI kann ich keine Werte mehr hoch/runterscrollen indem ich einfach am Pfeil des Wertefeldes zieh. Nur noch bei einzelnem klicken auf den Pfeil.

moebuis, this is actually a maxon interface scrolling bug we cannot change from our side.
we tried to get rid of it, but after long hours of testing we found it is a maxon thing with complex tabs, we have found the same in some S&T tabs p.e
maxon is informed already about it and hopfully will solve soon, in v13 it is much more seldom happen by the way so they improved some already.
you can easy go around it short scroll down and up again,then c4d loads all right, or click in some other section on left and then back.

Hi Stefan,
I think i'm having a problem with installing this update..
This is the first time i've updated Vray,so i'm probably making a silly mistake.
I'm using OSX,C4D11.5 Can someone tell me exactly where the files should be installed?
In my previous version the main Vray folder is in Applications>Cinema4D11.5>Plugins...i have no idea where the vraylib files are :(
I have deleted all old vray files from this location before adding the latest version....not sure where i should be putting the "vraylibs" folder though.
Cinema starts up fine,but crashes in the "preparing scene" phase when rendering with Vray.
please help:sad:

please do read the read me pdf:-), all is explained there, if you need more install help always per email please, but it is really easy (you have not deleted the old libs yet it seems, see screenshots in pdf how to make)

the "old" materialpreview objects set up with older engine...are there new objects with adapted settings? or doesnt it matter speedwise?

but i think what you mean is an interface to it where you can hook in with dpit, i am not sure you have access to it yet, i assume this is coming a bit later this year so you can hook in your plugin. i ask Daniele

i get crashes at some scenes...have to do some more tests but seems like old scenes with proxy files causing the problem

better to use new scenes, other wise email me the scene
(the old proxies are being tried to convert to new, but it might now work in all cases)
as in all updates, it might be also good for problematic old scenes to copy into a fresh c4d file and setup settings new, as the vray core has new settings
i will email you the scene...i tried already removing rendersettings, setting up all new, removing all materials with old release...doesnt work...even with 1 proxyfile.
i have to work in a lot of old scenes...nearly every1 got proxy files in it.
btw. crash happens right after opening the scenes...cant even take a look at the scene.

i look into scene, some you have then in it.
i can open all old scenes with proxies here at least but better to redo it or keep older vray for legacy of old files. it is good to always keep a c4d copy with old verson in case you need to redo an old scene

No crash here, and "old" vrmesh do render perfectly :-)
Concerning "render instance", seems that objects disapear in the viewport when "ticked" but do render.
Also noticed little thing, same icon for different element in the plugin menu :

That is more a c4d problem then at your computer, vray does not take part on the preview
I recommend doing a fresh c4d with all maxon updates

Ok, my mistake... stupid i was to make proxy of a proxy... :sensored:
Just forgot that i had my vrmesh (external file) in a null, in a cloner... and ticked "render instance"... Everything finally works fine :sun_bespectacled:

I have a problem on my 32-bit machine. No matter what I use I've got always plain white render. On second 64-bit cpu everything goes very well.

this does work here, send me an email with your file and detailes (c4d version, win, osx), make sure your virus soft doesnt block vray32

object buffers do work, activate render id, object id in vray, and choose object buffers and post effect in c4d multipass

I currently have R11 (with no render instances) and vray 1.2.6. Do you guys think having the latest C4D version with render instances + Proxy2 would improve my RAM consumption in a big project?

R11 does have render instaces the same as 12/13
Only the inteeface is more complicated as c4d itself doesnt have an renderinstance button
Internally they also use proxy2 in 11

... So what are the steps or workaround I should follow in order to work with said render instances in r11?... I just know how to create a regular instance and have it as a child of a surfacespread object... is that it?

You are right, Tong. I am asking this because I am running some tests and getting better results with the file based structure than the polygon one.
So, coming back to my original question: it seems it is worth it to upgrade C4D in order to have better ram usage with proxy2
yes.
as i understand in c4d 11 you will not have viewport speed up and memory reduce of use in working time advantages, with instance.

hey!! that´s the best way to come back from holdiay...:))
proxy2 is much better than i even hoped it could work...also the new compositingtag..
i think it took me at least 2 months workingtime in the last 3 years to convert trees etc into proxies - now it works like a charm!
a biiig thank you to the whole team...
one quiestion: when working with hdri-dome -is it still necessary to work with filter (0.4545)?

all update versions are free, you mised many if yo are still on 1.1, please do use the support forum, all info is here, just read the forum sectons and annoucements.
if yo are still on 1.1. yo need a new keyfile too, email us with the user data, we make you a new key.

as said above, you need to write US, the producer to get a new key(no evaluation, a normal key for 1.2.x), it doesnt matter at which reseller you bought it, vray is always from us, all legal customers are registered here, and we do support:-)
this is which each new maxon version as the serial changes from c4d, and also the old 1.1 key wont work on the new versions.

I see that on a material's specular layer the transparency amount slider is still active even when 'Use Fresnel' is ticked on. Is this correct? Thats different from 1.2.5.5
I am on R11 on a Mac.
