It´s an older project we modeled and rendered (native in C4D) for a Swiss client some months ago.
Now a try with Vray for C4D!
I hope you like it...

First we had displacement-grass, but due to the rendertimes (that were really high) we changed it to a simple texture-mapping
For a commercial work I would probably do some postwork on the grass...now I wanted to take an image originally rendered from Vray.

A friend used the same project for some tests with fryrender, and I must say that the results were similar concerning the final image... but not the render time :D . For the same resolution the unbiased renderer needed 8 times longer!

hi,

the light is ok but the sky looks like a thunderstorm coming soon... :D
Do the walls have to look like this? At first sight i thought this is a 40 years old building with dirty concrete walls...

cheers
Andre

Perhaps these are the last minutes of the great sunny weather (sun behind the camera!), but the thunderstorm is on the way 8)

empty
I know. It´s because we add usually many things in post...I don´t like CG people and plants...

love the left side of the windows 8)

..........

hi,

Do the walls have to look like this?

Yes, I know..
...for the client surely not (accordingly we had very clear walls in the original rendering)...
...but for testing on our own we found this dirty look more interesting...

don't put ppl only plants also vb not poly plants. its the best things with outdoor shots. the window looks real in the left building also the glass of it, thats what i meant

sorry i think the first render looks awsome! its very dramatic. well nothing the invester wants to see, but very dramatic. the houses look much more friendly in the dark scene.

glass.use, in your picture the ambience is much more friendly, but the houses look like cncrete bunkers...

beware of the leak on the bottom right corner... the grass an wall thing...

but some atmosphere like trees and stuff would be good!

Hi Sputnik
one thing you should try to avoid in general is putting the sun behind your camera.
this hides the shadows and flattens the image

also add a nice background pic to give the horizon and some more details
especially in the foreground (dsp grass too)

Yes, I know what you mean. You´re right, that it´s important to find a good sun position.
.
In this case the sun is not directly behind the camera -it shines from the left side,-perhaps it would be better to put it to the right to get more shadows on the windows in the front building...but the left facade of the second building would be very dark then :? -it´s a little tricky here
