greatly appreciated!!
Thank you!
One questions regarding the daytime version:
Why did you choose to put the luminous plane in front of the windows?
First I thought it's a substitute for he skylight but since you
ticked physical sun & sky I'm wondering.
Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Just a guess (I haven't looked at the scene), but maybe it's to illuminate the room better?
I've tried the Sun&Sky and the room had that nice highlight but the rest was kinda dark. Maybe that was to soften it?

well yeah, like somethingtodo said mostly to give a balanced lighting.
the lumin is not perfect white, its blue a little. and the sun time give a little yellow illumination so it will give a beautiful blue with yellow lighting.
your welcome all,

This is great and a very generous share. The daytime lighting is fabulous but when I render the night version my scene looks almost totally black - not at all like the one you have rendered. Is there something I am missing?

Have you change the Cam from Day to Night ?
Neil V

Doh! Now that's better. What an amateur I am......
The sphere still doesn't give off illumination though. Oh well.

switch the units to cm in cinema 4d and give it a try, and yes you need to swtich cameras for each scene. it have different shutter and iso.
please replay if it still not illuminate.
if anyone having same problem let me know please.

Thank you so much, it helps us a lot to have scenes to study like this! Wonderful work!

Yes, my measurements are already set to cm. The IES lights work fine and I'm using the night camera. The reflective ball doesn't have illumination though. Wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same problem?
The daylight settings are great though.

thank you very much glass.your interiors are great!
@ Neil V delete reflective material on the sphere and leave only the ilum mat on it...then it will illuminate

ahhh yes sorry forgot, theres 2 materials on the lamp. delete the plastic to make it illuminate, =)
thanks all

I amaze myself sometimes how I can miss the simplest thing. Thank you braalin. That renders beautifully now. This really is a very generous share from one of the best. Thank you.

I'm still trying out different settings and will post the night render soon.

Hey glass.use and Tong, i dunno if it's a problem with my LCD's Gamma it's currently set to 0 which is the default factory settings.
What i was trying in the shots is not to get that burnt Day Colour that's common amongst alot of renders but re-check if your Monitor's Gamma value is 0 if it's not maybe set to 0 and see what happens.
Other than that i will investigate in my LCD Brain! hehe :P
have a nice day guys and am preparing a scene mainly for Lighting testing and Reflection Tests.

Is the key to a good day scene a hign intensity sun ?
glass.use
02-24-2008, 03:11 PM
keogh did you solve it? because im confused you posted
OK... I've already done it.... ufff Wink
I forgot to delete shader...
so i think you solved it
not necessary dan, most of the time i keep the sun intensity normal.
they key is balancing sun with the camera shutter and iso and colors. to get a realistic result.

I think that is in IES light setup, am I right....
daantjuh44
02-24-2008, 04:13 PM
yes its the ies
you can see the .ies light fuile in the downloaded map
glass.use
02-24-2008, 05:00 PM
yes, the ies file is included, only click on the light tag ten ies then re-locate the ies again because i think it doesnt save it with the project

all will render fine then ;)
dr.barrel
04-25-2008, 09:28 AM

to be honest i download that file playing it.. as i m a beginner.. if i change something everything going perfect changing in that file.. but when make a new one like that .. everything destroyed..
imo(in my opinion) all depend on v-ray lighting effects. sun e.t.c izn't it ?

Hey dude... just to know... I'm applying 6 lights with a low intensity... I have no sun and I've just set the same values u got on all the scene (the phys-camera, GI's, Lights, etc.) to the ones on my scene... on preview all things seems to be ok (modeling)... but when I hit render, theres a really light saturated scene that renders... and I even set lower intensity to the lights (60% less), and still having this issue.
whats wrong? reloaded IES and got CM units too, but still the same result.
please help...

Hi,
I know this is a very old thread..hopely someone can give me an answer.
I try to get the ies light to work...but as you can see: it's not there.
1.) Units are in: cm
2.) I relocated the ies file.
What do i do wrong here.... Hopefully someone can help.
Thanks

just turn it's luminosity right the way up until you see it, then adjust it down.
