next year we're doing an infrastructure job,
you know roads, bridges etc... all this is already made as an
"mx model with strings" says the client
So what exactly a mx model/string and how do i get into c4d ? :P

In the past we always got a 3ds or obj file from the mxdesign
but this new client doesn't seem to know how to do this and i looks like it isn't very easy to do (something with special max plugin called "dynamite" !?)
We work with mac and we don't own any max or autocad software
(which is a total shock for those infrastructure engineering boys)

is there anybody who has experience with this ?

thx, ichi

ok I get it

http://www.bentley.com/en-US/Products/Bentley+MXROAD/Overview.htm?market=Civil
http://www.bentley.com/en-US/Products/Bentley+MXURBAN/Overview.htm?market=Civil
http://www.survcad.com.au/pages/survcad_dynamite_cad.htm
http://docs.lib.purdue.edu/jtrp/150/

It is fully compatible with both 3ds max & Autodesk VIZ & integrates directly with MX & Arenium.

dynamite it`s for rendering , so you don`t need it, but how to export mx to c4d?

ok i found solution i think they must use LandXML format or better DXF ?

thx for the links, worth reading
i know one client exports the MXmodel for us as obj with Dynamite
dunno why he does it in Dynamite
but maybe a dxf is indeed the best option, it will take a few tests before
it imports without errors
