Just did a quick test animation with moving objects. I used animation pre-pass mode for the first bounce and QMC for the second. Specs: 1.8 dual core machine around 20 seconds for the pre-pass and about 1.5 minuets per frame. I only used the physical sky to light the scene. The stair steeping in the shadow on the earpad is because I am using a spherify deformer on a imported Rhino model(has nothing to do with Vray).

Sorry to be stupid but..
I tried the anim prepass and nothing happens. Do you have to do an irradiance map for the whole anim and use it as the prepass. Also what is QMC is it Brute Force. Since it's not in the dialogues and it is in the manual it get's a bit confusing

Hi Rich, what you do is:
1)Set your irradiance map to Animation prepass.
2)Activate auto save
3)Render out every frame of your animation.(don't save the image, you are only saving the irradiance map)
4)Set your irradiance map to Animation render.
5)Adjust your irradiance map interpolated frames (I used 4)
6)Under irradiance map mode load file, point it to the irradiance maps you just rendered. Don't add the numbers on the end only the file name.
7)render.
You can look a www.spot3d.com to learn about the different setting.

ps. Yes QMC is brute force

Hi Rich, what you do is:
1)Set your irradiance map to Animation prepass.
Do you have any secondary pass or do you just set it to none?
2)Activate auto save
3)Render out every frame of your animation.(don't save the image, you are only saving the irradiance map)
4)Set your irradiance map to Animation render.
5)Adjust your irradiance map interpolated frames (I used 4)
This is in cinemas step dialogue I assume?
6)Under irradiance map mode load file, point it to the irradiance maps you just rendered. Don't add the numbers on the end only the file name.
Is this when you add the QMC in the secondary bounce
7)render.

Just a few questions in Bold. Thanks for the help by the way

sorry,
the change from QMC to brute force and DMC schlick sampler was made one day before release, we got the very newsest vray engine. so it is the older style in the manual.
this will get updated of course.
sorry

Hi Rich, I answered you questions below.
Do you have any secondary pass or do you just set it to none?
If you are using Brute force as a second bounce you can leave it active it will calculate it at render time. I think if you are using LC you would want to disable it first than enable for the final animation. To avoid calculating it twice.
This is in cinemas step dialogue I assume?
no, this is in the irradiance map. It controls how may frames Vray interpolates when you render the final animation.
Is this when you add the QMC in the secondary bounce
If you are using brute force you can leave it on the whole time.
