I have seen that a few others suffer from this problem. I also have run into this problem although it does not always occur.
I have not had the app hang or freeze but at times the preview will take 5 or 6 seconds to redraw.
Windows XP Pro Sp2 3GB Switch
4G RAM
Nvidia GeForce 7900 GTX (Forceware 91.28) I don't like changing drivers once I find one that works for all my apps.

What kind of effect has the material that it is trying to redraw?
At the moment, alpha channels of tiff files are not supported, and create problems (material redraw is one of them).
Have you tried setting the redraw to "low"?

I have tried the low setting and it didn't seem to help. I was not using a tiff or alpha.
One other thing I just noticed whenever I set my "Diffuse Layer Transparency" above 80 my object (that the material is attached to) disappears in my perspective or camera view. But when set to 100 the object(s) reappear. Of course the wireframes will show but if I am using any type of shading the above happens. I'll attach a few sceenshot since what I am saying may not be very clear.

And whenever I make adjustments in the 0-80 range I have to click in the perspective or camera viewport to redraw the the material that is on the object. But if I set it to 100 the object reappears but material is not shown on the object.
Everything renders fine.
And one more thing. Is Advanced OpenGL supported? Because it does not seem to work for me if Vray is my active render engine.
Maybe it's just my drivers but I really don't like messing with graphic card drivers.
Thanks for helping me out.

Okay, I have updated Cinema to 10.111 and Enhanced OpenGL is working and when changing the Diffuse Layer Transparency the object(s) update in the viewports. But the object(s) still disappear when I go over 80 in the Diffuse Layer Transparency.
Another update. There never was anything wrong with Enhanced OpenGL. I was unaware that shadows were not supported with an infinite light.

Hi MikeS369,
the OGL transparency above 80% is a known bug. It's fixed in the latest release 1.02 that will be available shortly.
Cheers

Thanks Daniele. I was beginning to believe it was my drivers. It's good to know I wont have to update them.
Thank you for replying.
