Can you explain

Infinite pure white light used as sun, set low angle -7°, physical sun and sky checked, size multiplier to 2. Camera settings are set to achieve exposure I'm looking for. Color mapping set to exponential 1 x 1.
Whenever I set sun or infinite light low in sky (like sunset or sunrise I get yellow light. White balance in camera setting is set to pure white.
I overall color of yellow is coming from the GI solution—the walls are yellow, the wood is warm color and the floor is tinted with some warm color as well. Since the interior is mostly bounced light it would be warm tones.
Not done because the little table contains some elements that need better shaders; the bowl needs to be cooler (bluer) and there are two glasses that will be better. Also some of the textures need refining.
Overall I am really impressed with the Vray renderer; rendering this image at 3800x3000 on high quality with some fine AA tweaks only take a bit over an hour!

Very nice
It feels like the image is telling a story, maybe for a childrens book or something.
Cheers

I guess the original is an inspiration to us all! Thanks for the link.

I love this kind of shot done when done in VRay, I wanted to build a Hobbit house a few weeks back, but who has time?
Really nice work, can't wait to see it complete.

Absolutely beautiful work on this. I love the warm rich colors and textures and the lighting is outstanding!

very nice.
some things to consider:
• the wood on the stairs looks too new and shiny to be in a room made of stones. need to make it look older somehow. the corner table also looks a little too modern for this room.
• your rear door looks made for a mini-person. the chair and objects around the door bring out how small it really is.
great job!

Good points, especially the table. I think I'll redo that part and repost; and I thought I was almost done! If I age the wood on the stairs I know it will look more authentic but I'm afraid it loose some of the romance; and who says it wasn't freshly varnished? The door at the back is a small cupboard under the stairs.
