HI,
just try to setup a material witha a gradient from clear/glas to opaque.
i was trying to use the fresnel in the transparent channel, but this may work, but render time explodes to a maximum.
does anyone have a good idea?
place your material please

thanks, yes the material is indeed nice... but...
can some please help me out ... really need a material with this gradient from transparent to opaque...
example: box out of perspex/glas which is transparent at the bottom and becomes through a gradient into an opaque surface at the top.
really need help

Can you not just use a gradient? And then set the mapping to flat and change the texture size to the size of the object.

well the problem is that i have to use the 3dGradient which works fine...
nice gradient from left to right... attched the material and image.
but dont get from bottom to top?
cant i just turn the texture by 90 degrees?.. maybe to much guniess yesterday and hangover...

try using a 2d gradient.
for all for this kind of materials:
just place the gradient or fresnel(or any texture) in diffuse tranparency.
thats what it is for-to mix solid to trsanparent.
second possibility is to use one or more materials and blend them via wieght map.
very cool effects are doable with this:-)
cheers
