View Full Version : self illumination independent of physical camera

hi,

i quite often use people and trees as image maps placed on surfaces. as the images normally have their "own" shadow the materials for these kind of setup have at least an amount of luminance in them.

but if you use the physical camera you always have to adjust the luminance multiplier to not have to dark or bright output for these objects.
which is actually quite annoying.

as these materials normally should not generate any GI increasing the multiplier also makes them lighting up the scene. (which can be avoided by adding a vray comp tag)

my suggestion would be to have a button in the luminance channel which makes the material uneffected by physical camera and / or not to generate any GI.
another possibility would be to have a new material layer for this kind of behavior if this is possible

we add that to the lits, if possible it will come some time.
i guess this needed soe changes to the vray core

thanks for your response, stefan,
and that you put it on the list.
