something like this one (it`s classic config ;-))

Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 Ghz/8192с/1066MHz S775 tray
Cooler SCYTHE Infinity + ZALMAN ZM-MFC1

DDR II 2048MB PC2-6400 Black Dragon DDR2 Geil (800MHz) x 2

MB Asus Socket775 iP35 P5K-E/WIFI-AP ATX

512 MB PCI-E GeForce 8800GT MSI NX8800GT-T2D512E-OC DVI TV-out 256bit (not classic, maybe better just Gigabyte NX76T256D-RH Silent 7600 GT, no use of powerful video in our applications.

For System and Temp - SATA 74 GB WD WD740ADFD 16MB 10000rpm + For Else SATA 500 GB WD WD5001ABYS 16MB 7200rpm or just 500 GB WD

DVD+-RW Asus DRW-2014L1 Black/Silver

Chieftec LBX for example 01B-SL-B but min 430W + 120 mm cooler and 90 mm cooler (or 3 but will be noise) for it with connect to ZALMAN ZM-MFC1 so you can adjust the speed of Coolers when you rendering or just working on it.

it will be around 1000 - 1300 $

and you can buy Razer Series Mouse or Logitech G5 mouse with
Steelpad.

it will be quite and speedy ;-)

Well, what you want to do defines what monitor you should buy. If you want to play with the VRAY, than buy something cheap, but if you want to be a proffesional, than buy some good monitor, and don't get cheap. This is one of the most important things in the CG, besides the fast machine. And when you buy one, get it calibrated.
