View Full Version : A render only version of VrayForC4D...

I'd love to run smedge or others as a render manager, as it has a lot more control and options than the old C4D render manager.

Obviously, if my farm was all mac, then I could install my licensed copy of C4D on it, so to have it render without a problem, unfortunetly its PC based. So it would be awesome if I could just install a render only version of Vray, so to render with.

The problem I see right away is that studios that work with outside resource could simply use that to render, never buying the real VrayForC4D.

So I guess one option would be to sell it, with a license system not tied down to the license number of C4D. I for one would gladly pay for a render only version if it allowed me to get my farm up and running with smedge without having to pay for a full price version of VrayforC4D for my PC farm.

Thanks :)

Well the other option would be for Apple to come out with a mid class workstation, so one could build a farm of macs, but there is no chance in hell that will happen, hehehe

i can give you a secret idea ;-)

VrayforC4D is deep implemented in Cinema4D, it`s not standalone product.

Yeah, thats a good trick for C4D on the render machines. (isn't it limited on render size though ?)

As for Vray, I'm basically wondering about a No Interface version of VrayForC4D. So all you can do with it is render, not change anything or work with.

we will see,
i have also plans to setup a smedge network, for me its easy as i can generat as many lic as i need;-)

for now we sucurly can support free rendering over the NET client. i assume that the net client rendermode-which is free- does not have a commandline interface.

the renderfarms have special licenses from maxon hwere vray runs with one license fro all, but actually thats a thing maxon should provide not we can change the way c4d allows rendering

as tong says vrayfprc4d is very very deep into the c4d core and uses many parts of cinemas for rendering and textureing(shading system, channel shaders, geometry handling etc..)

but yes if any possible we will think of such a thing:-)
cheers

Yeah I assumed as much, so thats why I was thinking more along the lines of an No interface version. That would run on the full C4D.

Obviously the best of all would be if Maxon fixed the Net Render Client to accept command lines, as you mentionned. This would mean ALL plugins would work. But I get the feeling this wont happen soon :(

i dont understand the problem here

simply copy the cinema folder from your master PC to the rendernode
use the same folder structure !
go master PC and run "regedit"
search for "mc4d" and exprt that reg. branch (its more then one time in the reg.)
run the reg file on the rendernode and thats it

works for smedge and commandline render as long "-nogui" flag is submitted

btw:
a smedge MAC version comes in a short

The problem QuakeMarine1 is that I don't have a master "PC" I have a master MAC :p

So I can't copy over my settings to the PCs on the farm. So the only solution would be to buy a NEW version of Vray... just to render with Smedge on the farm. Ouch.
