[REQUEST] Candle wax.. anybody? no... candle wax... anybody?

Sorry for the "Little Britain" joke in subject :wink: I'm working on a japanese stage for my job and i'm trying to make a candle wax shader but it doesn't look as great as the vray can show. maybe i'm a poof with the subsurface scattering :oops: if anybody can help me, i'll be a happy nerd :wink: Thanks & cheers!!!

thanks for your answer glass.use but after all sunday work & searching, nothing's my better result. may be a candle is not a great idea :cry:

Candle wax is a great idea, simply because it is a bit harder. There's a link to a candle wax shader over at CGTalk http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=47&t=386023&highlight=candl , which would be a good place to start. Sorry, I'm Cinema-less ATM.

I figured out that the SSS shader doesn't look very convincing
when you choose to use the phycam due to the huge light intensities.

So better don't use phycam or even better fake the translucency
with a luminous gradient like I did in this example:

thanks everybody for your answers. the tests i did with the sss material found in this forum doesn't look nice, and i prefer don't talk about the conversion of C4D native SSS to vray SSS. i'll try faking out. cheers

this fake SSS (nutriman) works fine for lighted candles, my candle is under daylight and can't be lighted [buf, sorry about my english, i'm from spain] . i need just a material like soap [aren't wax like soap? :wink: )
