I ask myself if I'll ever be able to achieve this kind of architectural glass; like in the attached sample of a real image, where an object placed behind a glass is still perfectly visible with its specularity effect..

My glasses placed in the same situation (of light and geometry), see the attached scene, have often good reflections, but any object placed behind a window is very dark, and its specularity are no visible.

Usually my glasses are made by 2 planes: I don't know yet Vray very well, so perhaps there be some general parameters that control the light decay of transparent objects?

thanks hiro =)
EDIT: its the glass that stefan posted.
i usually use normal mats but put them in a good env with good render settings to get it right.

your glass seems very nice.
Perhaps a little bit too dark, grey behind them.. I ask myself if there are some Vray general parameters that could control this aspect.

The one Glass.use have in the scene exterior_city, seams to solve the problem:

I downloaded at http://vrayforc4d.com/tests/simple_glasses.zip the glass Stefan posted, but it did not show much of the interior of my test scene

Here there are the two tests:

Interesting! So, so SPECULAR settings at all... this answers a lot of my questions. I've been having trouble creating sopme convincing VRAY glass textures....

Is there a place to D/L several VRAY Glass textures fo free?

Thanks, ras

Stay here in the Mat_Repository and you will find many posts with free glass and several posts with clear directions on how to make VRay glass (one is a few posts above here with the precise glass material settings).

There are some glass packs that Stefan made to get everyone started. The frosted glass renders a bit slow, but it's worth it. ;)
