After lots of test renders it's finally done... it was an interesting job since lots of features / effects are included that i often use... at the end i have chosen for the Brute Force & LC method longer rendering then the Animprepass method but someway, somehow i liked it more... plus i like the workflow more... too paranoid for prepasses... the second camera shot is still rendered with the prepass method.... It would have been better wit a DMC AA subd of 32 but i think it's good enough also for TV you best blur the whole animation a bit so it won't be that obvious.

I am gonna start the whole rendering over this week until next year ;) making the animtaion in a white environment, with subtle colour... and a DMC AA subd of 32, curious for the result.

Thanks to Stefan too for stalking him over and over with technical questions... he must be sick of me ;)

cause of the web compression it's not that sharp at thin lines...

Cheers!

AWESOME AS USUAL. How long took the rendering...... i wondering what kind of machin you use to render. if i'm doing rendering they take ages to render. i'm still looking for the optimal setting whitch work "fast" and keeps the quality moderat. could you give me a hind of how you setup your settings. AND MAn i'm watching the clip for the 20th time i love it.

:-) thanks a lot!!!
rendering in the heavy scenes went up to 25min a frame... octo mac...

The method is BF as prim. bounces (800 - 3) and LC as secondary (1000 - 8)
And the used the AA settings of that 7 dollar tutorial... it's multiplying all subd with 0,01 and the use the DMC AA at a max subd of 16 / treshold 0.005

wow thats ok  if i'm rendering a frame take about 1hour to render. how many frames to you have.

and your lightnig is amazing again i love you style. is it the same technic as in the K-BOT movie....... (using illuminating tags) ...... would you post the mats you using for the floor and the statues in the background :?:

Most of all the other movies in that style were rendered without light, without GI... it was a pain to do that with advanced renderer... the relfection on those objects were just white planes or studio HDRI's...

......!!! I see and not again :-) so you not using any light just planes with illumination mats did i get this right. otherwise you just have black images while rendering. any lightsource must be there. HDRIs, did you used them on a skydome or in the materials for the balls directly. i'm sorry for my stupid questions but i really need to know how to advance my workflow. do you maybe have a demoscene you could upload if this is not to audacious. so i can understand how you did all this work. And if you rendering do you use VRAY or just the standart c4d render engine. I'm kind of confused right now

No no ;) don't get me wrong that way of working i used with cinema's own renderengine not with vray... (all the other jobs in the portfolio are not done with vray)

In cinema's own render i was a big fan of fresnel in all kind of channels ;)
Restricted the work to only reflection and refraction effects because GI was a disaster to work with.

Vray gives a lot of new perspectives when working with it... finally colour and white becomes an option... But that's my persoal opinion... and actually it didn't matter that much for this job, but the client wanted an animation with black gloss and it was a good project to explore vray...

That was Nice! A good Example why Vray is superior..
25min per Frame at most sounds scary though :)
