I have seen that there is 1 IES light setting in the VRAY bridge folder in the plug-ins folder (OS X).
I was wondering if someone can quickly explain how to make use of IES lights? For now everytime I render an image with one IES light the render is black... so it is obviously not bright enough for the scene it is in. How can I quickly set a scene and lighting so that they behave in a natural way?
Alse the camera distance from floor and light distance from floor settings have me puzzled.
Albert
Do you use cm? Place here your scene with ies.
One of the best tutorial about IES in Vray (for max) I ever saw:

Here is some usefull programs to work with IES files.

Hello Tong
Thanks for the links and files. Unfortunately I am on a Mac so the PC programs are out of my reach :(
I'll study the tutorials though!

Nice try Tong :D
- I just bought a MacPro 8core
- I just bought VRay for C4D
No virtual PC for now :)
I think it will be a good plan (and I would help gladly!!) if we could make a repository with simple light fittings and ies files attached to it so the users could all benefit from this IES system and be able to drag and drop these in the scene with minimal fuss (even just a simple geometry stand-in for light size and direction would do to get these oriented.
Albert
Not very good idea in complex, but good about different sample scenes (with some IES), they will avaible here i think http://tools4d.eu/index.php like and $ scenes.
Not very good, because IES lights all different, every company has theys IES, IES file (click me link) is more than 1 billion in internet.
but I use only 25 ;-) most wanted in work.

Hi Tong,
I want these 25!! ;)
I saw that Tools 4D just came on-line.... this morning they were not. Now I think it's a better investment to buy this instead of Virtual PC + a license for WinXP :)
I will check these and thanks for your help!
Albert

Well at least there is 120 Euro less on my bank account now :). There were no free shaders yet
But I hope tomorrow I can start to learn the fast way and start using it in production.
I have some good clients lined up to put VRay to very good use

this site has nothing to do with me,
tools4d are betatesters that are offering commercial material.
dont know when they open this site really.
from me you get free shaders and scenes, but due to many work for release i am a bit later, sorry again.
mine will be more simple, but are aimed to get into learning it.
cheers
stefan

Hi Stefan and Tong,
Everything that allows us to learn will be most welocme. The results of the render speak very much for VRay and I will say here that I am very grateful for the ability as a Mac user to be able to use it.
So thanks Stefan and development team and the obviously knowledgeable group of forum users, like yourself Tong, for sharing your knowledge with us.
I hope within a couple of weeks I will be able to show some fantastic images to honour this effort of you as a team.
Albert
