Hi guys,
Does AO work together with Vray?
That will be awesome if we can put AO on while also rendering in Vray.
I have tried it, but i did not see any changes.
AO really does the thing with exterior renders...

yes i would like this too - my vray renders are sometimes just too clean  I would like to dirty them up a bit at junctions. Is this/will this be possible soon?

The AOShader works very fine in vray.
The standard use is multiplied on diffuse color, but other nice effects are possible in reflection, or specular layer. and in varius tranparency.
If your problem is to create AO in all scene, you can dupplicate file, and assign a new material on all obj, whi ao in luminosity layer. delete all light, turn gi and turn linea 1 1 colormapping.
the resolut is a perfec AO pass you ca multiply on you image in PHS
make sure tu select Autoconrast to balance the phycam efx.

thanks, will give it a try tonight - actually just putting it in the mats that I want AO in sounds like a better solution so its not slowing things down on bits that don't really need it. On a slightly separate note - there doesn't seem to be a c4d style diffusion layer in the vray mat, do we just layer our standard diffuse material up with noise etc. or use the second diffuse layer and blend them?

ok im going to do it on each map but on what layer? specular?

Hi rhodesy and glass.use,
Simply make a new layer in diffuse1, put your texture or shader, and multiply on this new AO Shder.

I've noticed that C4D's AO shader slows thing a lot down. Same, i have to use it a lot now  . Even using very low accuracy and samples. Any chanche to implement the vray dirt shader in the future?

yes the vray shaders are planned.

Hi Gecco,
Vray's own shaders will be implemted in a future major upgarde and you'll be able to use them together the cinema ones.
Cheers
Daniele
Slightly off topic but when you talk about major upgrades does is that something that 1.00 users will have to pay for and how much as compared to someone buying just after such an upgrade?
just curious...
