Sorry if it has been posted elseware but I have a small problem:

why do I get jagged reflections? Am I missing a setting?
It renders fine with AR.

maybe try to active normal aa option

I have tried that too.

Actually it doesn't seem to be an AA problem
It's a reflection angle problem. (I think) :?

I did some tests and realised that the phong tag on the object is not taken into account in this particular case...
It renders the same with or without it.

Any ideas?

Can you post the material scene?

Just replace the car with a geometry.

thanks

here goes:

stripped to the essence

P.S. I have applied "optimize", I have copy-pasted the model, used other reflective objects... etc etc..
It may be some other render setting...
Thanks in advance

(disregard this...)

When I merge the "bad" geometry with another "helathy" one, the problem dissapears...

some kind of corrupt geo.
But what is it exaclty?

I just want to add a few notes here.
This specific model (Audi) was purchased on 3D02.com (amazing model collection), in 3DS format.

It seems that it is causing a small number of problems with Vray that didn't show in C4D's native renderer.

I would guess that Vray is more "sensitive" in some aspects towards topology issues.
It doesn't pose as a huge problem, because most imported models need some kind of cleanup anyway.
Any knowledge on this issue would be appreciated. I tend to buy a lot of 3DS models for my projects.

Thanks

try filter box in antialiasing chek disable

maybe the filter are very hard.

Maybe the reflection is of the light source.

actually it's not related to AA at all. I managed to find out that it is a geometry corruption problem of unknown origin.
I will call it a G.C.P.O.U.O 8)

Thanks for the advice anyway

Try activating the Subpixel Mapping option in color mapping.

Cogombo, he's not talking about the high contrast areas (which are speculars, I think), but the reflection itself. Look how it creates big blocks instead of a smoothed result.
