I am in the middle of producing loads of models of furniture for supplier.. (chairs, tables, beds etc...)

The models will eventually be available on their website...

but what format should I save them in?

I am thinking .fbx would be best.... as it can be easily imported into Maya, Cinema and Max.

What do you think?... would .fbx be a good all round format that everyone can open? or do you think another format would be more suitable?

awesome brov!

FBX is cool. Also C4D and maybe 3ds... :)

cool... just to keep everyone sweet I think I will do .fbx, .c4d and .3ds

I am trying to avoid .dxf's :)

tong... I wasn't aware I could save .obj's from C4D! ... (I am running 10.1)

of course you can, it`s Wavefront Obj ;-)

basically it`s the best and simplest way to import/export with 3dmax, if you don`t need import animation or rig.

ahahahah... Now I see it...

I might do a bit of testing with a few models, a few formats and a few different bits of software :)

VRML 2 can also handle quite a lot of things. Cameras and lights, as well as quads. Nice format for C4D<>Max exchange.
