i have a question concerning net-rendering in a hybrid network (win-mac).

i have a calculated LC- and IR-Map and want to render the final frames.
now if want to integrate a macbookpro from a friend in the win network to render the vray animation as well it is generally no problem as the mac c4d client works well withn the win c4d server.
i only get problems with the paths to the IR- and LC-Maps as mac os uses different path names when i want to render this particular situation with precalculated lightmaps.

how would one solve this situation so that the mac c4d client finds the IR- and LC-Map....

thanks for any hints.

i post this here again as in the other thread about animation workflow it might get lost and could be of concern to other users.

regards, alex

Hi rendertaxi,
in next version we'll copy the saved gi maps in the Tex folder of the create d project for the net render.

Cheers

this makes me ask: is GI net rendering possible in the current Vray?

Hi everyone -

I am thinking about migrating to C4D from Lightwave Just because of Vray primarily.

That is one of the questions I have, will I be able to mix PC/Mac nodes and Vray will calculate everything the same?

or will I at least be able to calculate the GI pass and then load the irradiance for it to be used by all the nodes?

thanks -

that´s great! :-) thanks.

sketchbook: yes, of course it is. if you mean distributed rendering, that´s not possible now but is apparently being worked on. http://forum.vrayforc4d.com/viewtopic.php?t=58&highlight=distributed

_mats_ : yes, you are able to mix mac/pc when vray will support relative paths for the lightmaps. see this thread for animation workflow:
