Hi,

We are working on an animation which requires a very high quality carbon fiber.

there are some nice one's which are posted on vray-materials.de

if you can convert one to c4d we can pay you.

most of the materials there use 2 materials which are mixed together, and depending on the angle to the camera, the material will look different. not sure how to solve that in c4d.

please email me if interested.

thanks!

yes - something like that. hard to tell with a still.

this is for an animation, so the interaction with light needs to be accurate.

thanks

hi,
could you post an image of the vray mat?
nice setups for c4d do exist, perhaps they need a bit of refinement.

here's a nice one.

there are many on this site:

http://www.vray-materials.de/all_materials.php?mat=1806

click the image to get a larger view.

again - creating a still is not so hard - but making it suitable for animation takes some trickery.

sketchbook if i have time i make one for you, and the one on image above is for vrayformax procedural carbon by master of vray materials, not listed in vray-materials.de ;-)

Have you just tried to use this one (and convert it)
Carbon (http://www.frenchcinema4d.fr/hub.php?doc=matiere&matiere=1067)

hey tong,

yeah - i am still needing something.

we have tried here in the office to get something going with fresnel and falloff to shift the look of the 2 material directions, but cinema seams limited in this regard.

max has much better control over this.

thanks

@HUV - that's just a texture that is applied to the diffuse. carbon fiber has more to do with the reflections/specular and how the 2 directions react exactly the opposite to eachother depending on camera angle.

this is my attempt so far
short ray-trace animation (http://studiomoccoro.googlepages.com/carbon_anim_test_mat_8.mov)

"loop back & forth" helps to watch the effect more clearly.

edit: and a short GI animation (http://studiomoccoro.googlepages.com/carbon_anim_test_mat_9.mov)
