I agree, Stefan.

The night scene is stunning except the upper level lighting above the entry does not look convincing. The scalloping, what appears to be a mix of two light sources at each spot and the light falloff results in the lighting looking not quite right.

A comment unrelated to the rendering: the overall design is extravagant but the architectural detailing is unfortunately simple, for example, the covered walkway roof and columns in the first image. That reminds me of: "The devil is in the details."

Don't know, but supoose, if it's Vray.

But I've seen this project yesterday, and in term of architecture, it's really really good !

All is right, no bad points, well integrated, integer and readable concept, I really love this kind of architecture.

Of course, Archviz achieves the project reaaly fine.

I just hope that the final reel project'll be as soon as possible as this pictures.

stefan

"Auralab & Artefactory"

both vrayforc4d customers by the way too;-)

auralab sadly split up in "labtop" and another firm...

nice work the rsi guys too:-)

"and another firm...

Luxigon.... still uses C4D but claims to use AR
is artefactory also a C4D/vray user ?
they used to work with max in the early days

it seems Laptop is nowadays Architecturefirm by the name Serie & Serie

stefan
10-13-2010, 08:29 AM
they are our customers, also luxigon ( or is it laptop now), the big firms use many tools i think, auralab and its splts use mostly PSD actually, the render are more only a base to start, specially the older ones. artefatcory mostly uses max+vray, but seem to have also some c4d seats

thx for the link very nice work, it's a strange book
it feels like PMbrown had some free time and rendered his projects
with different materials, nice for us visualisers to look at
but architects never gonna choice their building material based on a nice rendering, no ?

this is also good to read: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/06/magazine/06fob-consumed-t.html
about using people in archiviz.

Can you define the balance between Pure Render and Post Production in your work?

EBC: Again, it depends but I think we’re more falling into the “75% Photoshop – 25% pure rendering” type of firm. Photoshop is where the real thrill is, as well as most of the style.

LM: We don’t spend too much time in pure rendering. Flexibility is the key-point in architectural competitions and Photoshop is the most flexible tool

Just read the article with Luxigon - this % breakdown of rendering and post absolutley smacked me round the face with a wet kipper! I am sure someone has metioned this before - shouldn't there be a section on the site dedicated to post techniques that are used? I have read a lot of stuff about photographic post pro. - you can buy magazines of the shelf dedicated to this but where does one look for Archviz post pro.? These guys are doing a serious amount of the work in Photoshop!

Jeremy.

stefan
04-06-2011, 05:38 PM
i remeber at times of auralab almost 100% was photoshop, they took only a rough c4d modell ad rest was all painted over. they are quite masters in psd. overall i would think this is not the usual thing possible for all styles and workflows, but certainly interesting and showing which great bandwidth is possible in work

quote from the Mir facebookpage :
http://www.facebook.com/mirnorway

"Here's what you do to make "Mir images": In photshop, Go to filter-artistic and select the "make cool image" filter. Once executed you can adjust the two sliders.
The top one lets you select a "Luxigon style" if you pull it to the left, and a "Mir style" if you pull it to the right. The lower slider lets you select how cool you want the image to look.
We usually go for a value of about 8."
