Hi guys,
Hope ur well!
I'm getting so tired with my personal P.C. Using a Laptob but it's very old.
Still runs with 512mb ram!
I wanna buy a desktop that is not too expensive. Don't have too much too spend.
I looked at this P.C:
Here are some specs:
* AMD Phenom64 Quad Core 9850 10Ghz Power PC
* With ATI Radeon X1250 1GB Hyper & 8GB RAM
* Max Res 2560x1600 Support Inc Blu-Ray Support
* Galaxy 3 Case With Quality 450W PSU (Winpower ATX 450w)
* AMD QUAD 10Ghz PHENOM 9850 8GB/500GB & X1250 1GB GFX
* TRUE QUAD CPU WITH 4 CORES @ 2.5Ghz + 1GB Hyper Gfx
(I'll definitely will put more ram in!)

Also I recon AMD is better for the Price....
Is it ok? I sometimes wanna run Cinema on it and I'm also doing Music Production.
OR
Do i buy a mac and run virtual Windows on it to run VRay on it?
I wanna have a mac, but the problem is I always had a P.C. All my programs are P.C, but don't know if i can use this licence on Mac?
Any help would be great!!
Thanks guys.

i'm exactly the same as you. a pc man. have been for over 20 years. but these days i only use apple hardware. the power mac especially.
but i use all my pc software on it. infact you'd never know you were on a mac and not a pc other than the rock solid stability and render speeds. i dont even use bootcamp - i installed windows XP64 directly onto a separate hard drive to use in it.
trouble is, it will set you back the thick end of £1800-£2000 for a top brass version.

you can get some great deals on Macs on the Apple Refurb site... just have the money ready to go when a bargain comes up!
From my point of view... I would get a Mac... most of the music industry runs on OSX and of course, Cubase, Logic, Reason (et al) are all Mac native. Cinema is also 64 bit on Mac as is Vray 1.1
The plus side of getting a Mac is that you get an amazingly stable, virus, adware, malware, trojan free computer that can run Windows if you want... the best of both worlds..
If your looking at about £500 you could get a MacMini for £399 and hook your old monitor, mouse and keyboard up to it... you could use the remaining £101 from your budget to fill it with RAM!
I can heartily recommend a Mac Pro 8Core if you have the cash to splash, they are crazy quick... especially when you fill them with 32GB of RAM :)
hold off buying a Mac for a few weeks... rumor has it that the Mac Mini's are being updated.... as are the iMacs....

go to apple.com/uk/store
scroll down to the bottom of the page, its on the right hand side..
there are a few MBP's and a MP on offer...
I have had a few refurb Macs now... they are essentially brand new... and come with a full years warranty!

that sounds like the deal of the century!!!! buy it!
if its only 6 months old it will still have a warranty and it would be worth extending that warranty after that
incidentally, thats the same Mac I have... and its an absolute monster!

GAAHHHHH no no no...
dont buy Virtual PC... that is a very old PPC app... it wont run on a modern Mac.
you need VirtualBox (free), Parallels Desktop (£39ish) or VMWare Fusion (£39ish)
Parallels or Fusion will be able to 'suck' your entire existing PC into a virtual drive on your new Mac...
but if it was me... I would crossgrade you license of Cinema4D for a Mac one and do the same with VrayforC4D... the sooner you can leave Winders in in the dust the better...
If you have any questions about your Mac... check out the macosxhints.com/forum
