Sorry. Maybe I did not understand some fundamental things but for what should I need the include/exclude option? I know that AR had this. I did not use it there also. What is this option good for? If I have a light source and a Scene full of objects, isn't it natural that they cast Shadows or get lit by the light? I don't put a light source in my Scene to exclude anything from it.

Thanks,

Moe

i also never use it and many others dont do..

but for example car shots are easier if you can icluse or excude certain lights and also some other people want this. c4d users are a bit spoiled by such features. not many software has it.

for archiviz you seldom use it of course.

but as said it will come aslo to vray over time...

It a very important tool for anyone doing Film work or TV commercials. As what is important is not "realism" but more of what looks Good.

A client for example might want his Product shot to have a special hilight, one that is only on the product. So you'd have a light include only that object to cast that hilight. Or they might want to change the lighting only on certain elements of a scene (for dramatic effect for example) So you'd clone a light and exclude/include objects so that some used the original (approved lighting) and others used a darker light.

It's all about having the power to cheat :P It's something pretty much all software have.

i think its not only the light that should have some include/exlude options but also the objekts in composition tag.. in some cases its very useful :)

This needs to be here. Its so usefull, it allows you to fine tune your lighting to get the exact look you need. real world or not. Before Gi I used to light my scenes with 30-50 lights, all linked to individual objects. maybe i just needed a brighter Rim light on one object. or a specific highlight on another object to add more contrast.

-I know Vray for maya allows to you light link. It is very popular and is almost Standard.

I hope it comes soon.
