Hi.I was wondering.I have a robot I am working on. Most parts of the robot have many selections that are set,so as to apply different materials to different parts of the model. For example, the droid's head. It's comprised of about 25 different material selections. The problem is that i want the paint on the main portion of the head to have some scratches. So I apply my scratch material over the paint, and when it is rendered, all that shows up are the scratches.Tha underneath paint mat is invisible.I have selected mix textures for the scratch material.
any ideas?[/img]

Yes, stacked materials and alpha mapped materials with polygon selections can't be rendered properly at the moment.
This is a known issue.
Hello.
Yeah hope to see stacked materials comming asap.
If you can't wait, try placing the non alpha / selection on top of row tags, then alpha chans materials without selection coming after with "mixed" appllyed.
It should solve part of problems.

you can stack materials.
only stacked materials on selectiontags do not work yet.

I too am having problems with stacked materials. I am trying to add while circles and have set up a model, both with selection set and with out. The material is an alpha mapped circle. Is this still broken, or should it work?

Edit: Sorry. I didn't notice that my link was wrong until now.

I wish I'd known this a few hours ago. I can't go anyfurther with this project using VRAY until Stacked with Poly Selection works. Front and Back switches don't work either, or I might have been able to work around. . .Thanks Fluffy for providing the answer. Polygon Selections and Alpha Mapped Stackable Mats should be priority over any additions like volumetrics and stuff, imho.

it was hard enought o implement the stacking at all, as this is not supported in vray normally.
if possible we will do it. in the meanwhile there are many possibilities to work without saved selections and stackes. you can split your object p.e. and then stack the materials.
overall stacking works very well, only stacking+selection sets is not supported.
please understand that from a technical point not all things are possible, many things demand changes to the cinema sdk that has to be made by maxon. we have not influence at all. v ray already is one of the most integrated 3rd party solution around.

Hi heathivan,
stacked materials with selection tags will be supported in a future upgrade when our VrayBlendMaterial will be ready.
Cheers
