Hya, I am new to Vray, so please excuse my stupor...
Which settings do I use for flicker free GI in animations?
I figured 'Anim' in the irradiance map (primary)?
But which one for the lightmap (secondary)?
And, do I render a prepass first, auto save it, and then load and render it in 'anim render' mode?
And, how does that work over netrender? Do i have to upload the prepass calculated irradiance map files (each frame), and the lightmap file, onto the server? Or can I run the prepass distributed from the server?
Thanks lots in advance guys.

Hello SushiCargo,
Vray use a GI interpolations to prevent flickering.
In the next releases will be added an automatic GI interpolater menu that allow all to make in automatic this job.
best regards

basicly you render the gi solution(ir+LC or IR+brute force p.e.) and save it to file.
the file should be accessable on a netdrive.
then you render the animation.
for ir there are many possibilities to use, one for flythrough is incremental backup, or for object animation it is the anim prepass.

thanks for that.
so if i made the netdrive available, i will then remotely (from home for example) put 2 renderfiles on the server:
1) that renders the anim prepass and saves the ir map for each frame to the drive, and
2) that loads that file and renders the final anim render.
how does it know the name? the rendered prepass ir maps are all numbered then (file0001...file0199). do i put it under "load", with the name of the file without the number? "file" instead of "file0001"?
cheers

i tried everything, i am not even using anim_prepass, i am using still frame settings now, so no saving to net drives required.
all i get is black frames over netrender.
same file, same setup on a single machine, renders fine.
nobody else seems to have that problem? must be me...?

hi stefan, i am using the default settings.
my setup is self illuminated bodies with no other light source or hdri. the bodies are illuminating the scene. it works like a charm on the single machine. just not over the netrender (os x).

p.s.
1) render IR(animation prepass) with path to save the gi files (dont render final image on),
2) use IR+bruteforce for objectanimation
3) load same path in animation renderpass
4) render
for netrender make sure to set the gi path to a netdrive.
thats it, it renders the tiff frames then
cheers

p.s here si the rendered movie, took ca. 10 min to render:-):
