Does anyone know if there is a demo available or a free alternative? It's not that I don't want to pay, it's just that at the moment I am poor due to bills, Vray, kids etc and I just wanted to test it out.

It looks like the type of tool that could save me a lot of time.

Cheers.

I think 44 euros is very affordable.

Renato, ok that's fine.

My initial need was to be able to extract geometry from an existing mesh. If you have a look at this image below you will see what I mean.

I can create the helmet easily, but the gold part on the surface is more tedious and your plugin looks like the sort of thing that could do it easily.

I know I could do it by hand but I have a lot of designs to get through and it would take ages so I am looking for a lazy route.

Kraphik, yes I agree it is very affordable, but I have no money at the moment and I always like to try before I buy :)

Select the polygons where the ornament needs to be use the functions > split command
scale them a bit maybe subdived a bit and then model it to the desired shape
then extrude a bit to add thickness

daantjuh44, thanks for that. I have tried that, however the topology of the helm I created isn't the best in that area, so the extracted mesh would be very uneven. I could do it that way but as I said I'm lazy and I need it to stick to the original surface as much as possible. Can you make the extracted surface stick to the parent surface?

U have two way to realise it:

1) Create the profile of the gold part with spline (AI for example), project on the helmet and then estrude it! ;)

2) make a copy of the helmet, and with cutter, define the gold profile: delete the the polygon that isn't into gold part! After tweak the mesh! ;)

Sorry for the delay.

Meshdeformer is not think for these thigs :)

But some time i thought to make a projected deformer :)

i hope that i'll time to update meshdeformer in this way.

MrBaun, yeah it looks like I will have to do it that way

Renato, thanks for the reply. It would be great if you could implement that.

On a similar note does anyone know if the SurfacePainter and Dynamic Spline Projector (Paul Everett plugins) are still available and if so, will they work with C4D 10?

Cheers for the replies.

Ok I've just found a demo of what I'm looking for. I downloaded the demo of Ditools and the MultiProjector allows you to project splines onto a mesh so it's perfect.

Thanks everyone.

Sure, it's very easy to use.

You select what to project on to and what should be projected as well as an axis etc and then it does a frontal type projection.

As you can see from the Screen shot the text object is projected and the disc object is projected as if they were part of the mesh. When you move the text around etc the projection is updated with it.

When you are happy you can then turn the projection into a separate object.

there`s also the c4d-command "project spline"
press v, edit spline, project

Well there's a hidden gem, didn't know about that one

Except that Renato'sp lugin allows for real time deformation.
So it can easily be animated or adjusted.
