Hi everyone,
just tried to set up something like a background object in cinema.
So went into environment tab and tried projector shader (frontal mapping) but couldn't get it right. Guess the map type (angular, spherical, cubic, mirror ball) is getting in the way here.
How do I set up a frontal mapping for a background?
Thanks for your input folks.

The only method for now is to use a plane aligned to the Z axis of the camera.

yup, we're using a similar method.
we create a massive sphere around the scene, make it editable, then assign a luminescent material of your back round picture to it, and change the mapping properties to frontal. Also, you might want to assign a normal c4d comping tag to the sphere to fine tune it's visible properties.

i use the following:
1) add a background object ad vray background material to it
2) add a big sphere press c and reverse normals
3) put sphere as child of background object ( maybe add comp tag to it if needed)
render:-)
(this is frontal mapped then.
this mapping you can use any background object in viewport, it gets rendered through the sphere child...)

But can you project a texture on a surface...
say for instance you want put a 3d object on the floor of a picture (with reflection, shadow, etc...)
also you'll need a compositing tag for compositing background...
or am i wrong?

in 1.0876 you can also choose frontal maooing for background in enviroment tab settings:-)

Hi Rizon,
actually the VrayBridge fully support only the compositing features that Vray core permits (and that you can find in the VrayCompositing tag).
Cheers
Daniele
