Please advise, i have a Mac network running, archicad, C4d R11 and Vray.

All projects are located on a server along with the bitmaps, people/trees library and LC and IR.

Question 1
Is performance for animations that read all the data on the server effected, would it be much better to have all file on master node?

Question 2
I am running 64 bit C4D, does Vray default installation use 64 bit? the render screenl displays (32) bit the right hand corner? is this right or wrong?

Question 3
When utilising the pre-saved LC and IR, each client seems to take along time to load and eventually start.

Question 4
i am simply trying to rule out any problems with speed of renders, if in deed there is a problem at all. Any advise would be grately appreciated.

many thanks
David

hi david:

add1:

best is on server for all clients. if you have a good server it is fine, best to use a gigabit network

add2:
yes vray is default 64bit, but not cinema4d. you have to press apple-I to get the info on the c4d.app and select start in 64bit. then c4d will star in 64bit and also vray can then run in 64bit. per default c4d starts still in 32bit.

add3:
no:, not if you have a normal network( gigabit etc)

add4:
no there are no speed problems in net, this runs fine. mae sure as said to have a good and fast network running and that all machines are fast and setup ok with enough ram. best and most easy is to use identical or smiliar computers in operating system and hardware

cheers
