I am also trying to make the lighting for a spacescene but i have no idea where to start.
Should I use a physical sun? Or just an infinite light? Ore some kind of 3way point lighting?
I'm glad for any information :)
Thanx in advance!

No atmosphere, so harsh white light from a direction impossible on earth, for example from somewhere below. Hard shadows. Practically no ambient except in planet orbits where you can use the planet color, Earth blue or Coruscant yellow.
Do a G**gle image search with "NASA"!
Small step for mankind, big step for me...

Yeah that's what I tried but I just don't get any usefull results.
You really mean just one lightsource?

you don´t get nice results, because the real life lighting doesn´t look nice ;-)
As mentioned before, because of lack of atmosphere the light usually looks very hard. Its still not a perfect point light, but very close.
If you don´t go for a scientific solution, then place one light from where the nearest star shines (or several, if you have more than one).
And then you can add fill lights or not - just as you like. Keep in mind that many of the pictures you see from outer space are heavily "beautified".
