Hi,
Everything looks to be working but with one minor problem - Everything renders black !! Nothing.
I have just a plane and sphere. I created a camera and gave it a VRay camera tag. I created an area light and gave this a Vray light tag.
I enabled Vray in the Effects section of the Render Settings.
When I render I see the buckets dance about but only black pixels.
I am not sure what I am missing out here! Must be something obvious.
Any ideas?

Yes, I had the same, then I apply'd a Vray material and a light with a Vray tag, and............. worked.
Looking forward to the manual though, start from the beginning.
Kind regards, Robert

Hello :)
At first, don't use the Perfect Sphere or Floor because Vray support (for now) only real polygons geometry.
So all it's ok except Perfect Sphere, Floor.
Always add a light and the render will be ok.
The manual is coming.. so sorry for now.
Cheers

a good Starting point is
Create a Sun object
then Add a Vray Light Tag
Tag the Physical Sun and Physical Sky Option
Add some geometry
use one or meore vray Materials applied to them
and last but not least
the Rendersettings to Vray Bridge Gi On
If you like choose one of the presets
I Use
Irradiance map for Primary Bounce
Min -4 max -3 for preview
HSub 25 Interp. Samp 20
Screen > sampel size 0,02
Light cache for Secondary Bounce
Subdivision 250 passes (as much as Processors are build in your workstation
this is for superfast preview
not HQ
Which is good to beginn with

Hi,
Thanks everyone for your replies but I still have problems that I can't seem to get on top of.
I am getting some results but not what I expect. My main one is as soon as I add a Vray light tag to a Cinema light I get the black renders. Every time. If I remove the Vray tag I still get black renders. I have to delete the light and create a new one (don't add a tag) and I get a colour render.
Belushy - I tried exactly your steps but just black is displayed.
I have Final Render which follows simlar methods so I'm a bit surprised why I'm having these problems
Anyway, time for a break and I'll try again later.

So does that mean you can't use the C4D floor object?
And I don't understand what you mean about 'perfect sphere' Renato...
TIA

He means Deactivate render perfect in the object tab of the sphere, otherwise the sphere does not render.

here is something to begin with
rendersettigns are not so fast but quite good
there is 1Gig traffic on this site so 1000/35mb=28 times possible downloads
have fun
ps its an Interior scene I#m currently working on

Thanks for the test file Belushy - It renders just fine for me.
I am making progress now although I am "sure" there is something not right about a very simple scene.
Try this.
1. Create a new file
2. Click Objects->Primitive->Plane
3. Click Objects->Scene->Light
4. Move the light so it is above the plane
5. Enable Vray in the Effects panel
6. Click render and you should see the plane
7. Add a VrayLight tag to the existing light
8. Click render and all is black
I think the problem might be related to the intensities of the native Cinema lights and the Vray lights but I need to make some more experiments

Just save the rendersettings as preset and load it to every new scene
and modify relevant settings
i use the 10comm tools and they are great for saving and applieng rendersettings
