Hi guys,
This is the image i've been working on the past two weeks.
I did most of the modelling in Sketch-up and did all the detail in C4D.
This mamma took me 27 hours to render!!!! What a shocker!! :shock:
My P.C specs are:
* 3.4 GhZ Pentium 4
* 4Gig ram... I think that is one reason why it took ages.
My settings as as follows:
* Normal camera, Physical sky and IES lights
* GI set on High Quality
* 1st Bounce - Irradiance map, min rate -3, max rate -1, Hem Sub - 75, Inter Sam - 40
* 2nd bounce- Light Cache, subdiv - 1000
* AA - Adaptive subdivision, default
The scene's polycount is: 320 000
Please feel free to comment. I need to see where i can improve. :)

What......
my scenes are complicated like yours and my spec is
2 cores 2.0 mghz
2 gigs ram
512 nvidia 7600
and it take maximum 2 hours. like 800x1000
really you have a mysterious problem in your pc or settings?!
but the image looks fantastic! :wink:

Thanks guys.
Jip, 1.05...
Renato, maybe i can send the file to you and you can see in what time you render it? Maybe i do have some settings wrong... :?
Just another question. how do i get the image on the screen so that you don't have to click on the link?
cheers

There seem to be overlapping triangles on some of the walls (these areas are more noisy), which probably caused the long render time.
Best regards,

Hi guys,
Here is an update of my latest project.
After days trying to sort out why my P.C crashed with Lightcache, I got nowhere, and instead used Brute force which worked great.
This took 3 hours to render on fairly high settings.

It took about 3 hours. The coloured one did not look that great, so i made it Sepia.
I did about 6 views, so i'll post some of the other views soon.

very nice renders - the rendertimes for the first one sound high though!

Hi Walli,
Yeah it was very high because there was n problem with the scene.
Now it is fine and renders in 3hours with fairly high settings.
I can probably improve render times alot, but i do not know vray well yet, so i just use the basic settings still...

what was the problem, if I may ask?
Was it geometry related or render settings?
best,
Walli

i still do not know, but i think it was a texture problem.
I removed all textures and it rendered out fine. Ten i apllied it again and it worked, but it rendered fine with BForce and with LC it crashes every single time.
Stefan said it takes a lot of memory (LCache)
