Hi,
I made some tests with metal. But there seem to be problems with imported CAD meshes (1st image) and booled meshes (2nd image).
Also I don't know how to get the GI smoother. I always produce grainy images ;-)

hi jack,
had the same problems with imported objects from cad (first picture).
I think changing the face normals in the non reflecting parts will make it better. The problem in the second picture comes from very small triangles created during boolean operation. I think it will be better to model this part in a different way (extrude object for example).
Can you tell your settings that produces the noise?
regards

The normals are all correctly aligned, so I don't know what I should change about them. I think, the problem with booled meshes could be avoided, for Advanced Render does not produce these artefacts.
About the settings...
Better: I can post the scene: ;-)

Thanks jack. I learn a lot from all the sample files you guys provide here. :D
Peace,

Booles in C4D sometimes work better if you uncheck the "Render Perfect' option.
Cheers
