If you want to have an indication of the light direction without selecting the light, you easily can make it.

Just put your light under a null and change the display properties of the null.

Yep, that's my current workflow but it would be nice if this would be a native feature.
It's not an essential thing but it really helps to keep the overview if you have tons of lights in a scene. So I'd like to see it in future versions :)
