As it says in the Subject ;-)
I know this sounds like asking for a release-announcement (thats not my intention).
It would just be nice to have an idea on what great stuff you are working and what we can expect from the next version (FSSS, easier Proxies,...).
-> Even more important: What parts of the VRay-core are not gonna make it into 1.2 (RT, Fog, Fur,...)?
I would like to start this thread as a central place for users to check what is going on in your lab although a dedicated dev-blog would be a neat idea (hint-hint)
-> edit:
I gonna put the condensed info from everybody here on top:
THE GOOD (what we gonna get):
+ multi-proxy
+ mesh light
+ native LWF
+ Fast SSS2
THE BAD (whats not gonna make it into 1.2):
- Volumetric Lights (in progress but VRay-SDK not final -> will be in 1.2.x)
- include/exclude Lights
- In between Update (mainly for faster proxies on OSX -> not worth doing bevore 1.2)
- Distributed Rendering
and THE UGLY (what is not answered yet):
? VRay Fur
? Fog (might drop together with VolLights?)
? SDK for procedural geometry

how about Distributed render is that on the 1,2list ?
and i repeat my request for a small in between update for macusers
so proxies work at the same speed on mac
seems like a fair request in my eyes, no ?

hi,
volume effects , dr, include/exclude is definitely not in 1.2,
but many other very nice things and good improvements.
we constantly work on the plugin and vlado on the core which changes almost daily at the moment.
many new things are in and many new things come. what is possible is in, the rest comes when ready.
our highest priority has dr this is beeing worked on and will be worked on very intense, but wee will not hold back the 1.2 release for it. it comes when it is ready.
volume effects we have prepared some parts plugin wise, but they are not yet in the vray sdk so we cant add it yet. (also in the maya version doesn't have it therefore yet) the good news- as far i know from vlado they will be in relatively soon. as soon it is here we can add it, this might make a 1.2.x release then
ichi.one, as i said very often, for what we have to make and how sdk changed no small updates possible between 1.1 and 1.2, specially the new proxy workflow and proxy on osx is a very complicated thing to bring to same speed as windows and definitely no small update.
you all will get detailed 1.2 info when it is ready, not before, please understand. 1.2 is a very nice release and by far the best vrayforc4d version yet, that i can say for sure.
things that does not make it in 1.2 comes in next updates(until 1.5 has all)
cheers

thanx for posting all this info, i didn´t want to nail you down on feature X or Y i just wanted to get a faint idea about what is coming.

as every release so far!

it´s great to hear that you guys are still pushing to get the best product possible to us customers and that you allways try to keep the pace of vlado (thanx!)

i understand what you are saying,
but you also have to understand that as a professional user/customer
i want/demand the same features/speed for my mac as other PC customers get*
Can you at least confirm it will work for 90% the same way on mac and pc in v1,2 ?
because if i now want to use proxies i have to use a (pc)renderfarm, which costs me money
* the above is all said without anger or anything
i just want to make my point as a (mac)customer/user
i hope you all understand that
:D

we all want it,
all i can say is the problem comes from osx , not from vray. very much work have been invested to surround that osx shortcoming. and i hope it will finally bring good & stable result on osx. you can believe us we want it at least the same as you want it;-)
also the maya vray osx users want that + c4d vray users, thats a lot of people, so you can believe us we and vlado know this is a very very important thing!
cheers

You hope ? several month that i'm looking for each news about these fu**** proxies not "really" working on osx, and i thought everything was ok now
You mean that the problem is still "there" ?

that didn't answer my question
okay multiple choice question 8)
will proxies work (± at the pc speed) on mac in 1,2 ?
1 : yes
2 : no
3 : maybe maybe not : i just dunno
(because we're still in development and
for the moment it ain't doing what it should...)
again please don't see any anger in my discussion
i try to bring it as lighthearted as i can
i just wanna know as a macuser where i stand
i don't care about maya or if it's mac osx
as customer that's not my problem

no fu**** word here please huv...
well i answered all whats possible in last thread ichione .
(as macuser you get as much what the os make possible, we all try hard to get the maximum out of it, so i would care about it...)
testing will finally show what really comes out. as i said above no info before releases - i learned from last time, otherwise some people flame me again if if some doesnt work out as planned...
cheers
stefan
no fu**** word here please huv...
Yes, that's why there was some "***"
but we can think it out
so no ****

You mean that the problem is still "there" ?
Was the contrary ever mentionned? As far as I remember, no mention of this fix has been made.
Vlado made some improvements in the core engine, but it has not been ported in the plugin yet. Still, I'm not even sure Vlado's improvements would make the render speed equal between PC and Macs at the moment.
Of course, I'm kind of talking out of my a** (©Huv) , I didn't follow that too closely.

Yeah looking forward to 1.2 thanks for the update sounds great. Just one point - have you guys worked on workflow at all in terms of speeding up the material manager or scenes with quite a few materials in? For me this is still a bit of an issue and can be frustrating when adjusting materials and waiting 30secs or so for a slider value to update.
Cheers
Meshlight sounds like a winner - does that mean you can apply a meshlight mat or tag to an object and have much higher control options and higher sampling quality than what we currently have with just the luminance mat?
actually it`s mesh object that have attrributes of light
o it light that have any form
Mesh light options
[VRayLight parameters]Pick mesh - click on the button to select any triangle mesh object from the scene as the shape of the light. If no mesh is specified, the light will assume a box shape.
Flip normals - if this is on, the normals of the mesh source will be inverted thus producing light on the opposite side.
Replace mesh with light - if this option is checked when you pick the mesh it will be removed and the V-Ray mesh light will be created in its place.
Extract mesh as node - use this button to restore when you have created a mesh light replacing the actual geometry with the light you can get the original geometry back by clicking on this button

we could eliminate some bottlenecks of the material preview yes. specially when big and many textures are used, it should be more efficient and optimized.

I really hope that the material editor has become faster than in 1.1
This is one of the biggest problems if you ask me.
What's about the motion blur issues that I reported some time ago? (http://www.forum.vrayforc4d.com/viewtopic.php?t=5043&highlight=motion+blur)
Will there be a fix in 1.2? And MB for deformed objects like joints?
cheers,
Daniel
