I have many (150-200) lights in my scene. It is an exterior scene with big building with glass facades and windows and I need to have many lights inside for a night shot.
Approx. 20 lights are IES, 4 are spots and the rest are Omni type. Rendering is veeeeery slow (many hours in lowres preview).
I want to know what type of lights is faster to render. Many Omnis or a few large (very long but narrow) rectangular Areas ? Or what settings can reduce compute time significantly? Shadow subdivs, photon subdivs...? Thank you very much.

i normally use area lights always, normally this is very fast also with many lights. you can alos chack the "store with irradiance map" option that sppeds it up too.

make sure your setup is right, i would use ir map and brute force for that.
render the ir map at small resolution(800x600p.e) save it, and then render the final image with irmap set to "from file", using the saved map.
then such a image should render quite fast, specially with many lights.

cheers

Thank you, Stefan.

I will try it next week at work. I must say I am very happy with VRAYforC4D othervise and I am sure that this problem is somewhere in my settings.
