Hi,

I am experiencing very regular complete C4D crashes when working with caustics and during the generation of the caustic map.

I have followed the VRay for max tutorial ( the website where there is a complete online area of VRay...)

They make the caustic light subdivisions to 4000 and higher but when I do that it will completely crash cinema in 90% of the cases...

Is there a 'proven' workflow how to achieve good caustic effects witout crashibg?

I have a MacPro with 8GB of Ram; is that too little?

Hi !

no, that RAM is more than enough. I had crashes when I used "max intensity"=0
Stefan gave me that advice and now it is working fine. It is still a sort of effect which takes a lot of calculation time.

You can put even 16Gig into the box, but as a limitation of the current operating system only 4Gb can be allocated for one running program.
