Hi, I have not bought Vray yet and have not yet upgraded from cinema R11 to 11.5. Are the R11.5 memory enhancements ect carried over to the latest VRAY for c4d realease (are they compatible). Out of memory errors are a pet peve of mine.
Also how does the rendering speed of vray compare when using gi as compared with c4d gi and renders.
Also because I am thinking of buying 3ds max and vray for 3ds max...how does vray for C4d compare to Vary for 3ds max.
Thanks much,
Jason

vray 1.1 and cinema4d 11.5 not compatible, c4d11 and vray 1.1 compatible
the new 1.2 vray version will be compatible with 115. and it will be free for all costumers.
Out of memory errors are a pet peve of mine.
in vray 1.1 you will not have it too, use 64bit cinema and proxys.

similiar now in stills, BUT there is a lot of but
if you don`t use many glossy materials, if you don`t make animations , if you don`t want good AA if you ... many don`t so if you do do do = use vray ;-)

outstanding, there is no compare it like have vray on there most user friendly system in world, it`s mine imho, but 3dmax died many years ago and autodesk is just kicking corp of it with electrical stroke (3dmax 2008, 2009, 2010 etc... maybe someday will be 3001 ;-) and they will integer in it Earth)

vray is a lot faster than ar, also in stills. even more in animation.
i tested 11.5 over several month and did compare both.
what is nice in ar is its new displacement. the speed of the AR engine is good, but still far behind in comparence to vray.
also the vrayquality is higher and you have full physical properties for photometric and IES lights, BRDF materials, physical cameras with special lenses, true and super fast thin SSS, etc....
the new SSS in vray 1.2 is also physical correct and ultra fast, such a thing does not exist in ar either.
booth are quite different in the end, vray is a highend physical renderer.
vray uyses the new picture viewer in 11.5 which is also nice to zuse in vray of course, and the new features of c4d itself. the ar feature additions do not help vray as vray has its own very efficient and fast memory system already.
specially in real world scenes vray shows its great power. the more complex the more advantage in vray.
cheers

i was mean similiar if you don`t do many don`t.
Like good AA, fast render with real BDRF materials etc, IES light, Fast SSS etc etc etc.
it seems mine irony to light ;-)

So we pray for a quick release of Vray 1.2, because without it I cannot really use my C4D 11.5.
OT:
Btw. if also some Maxwell-users are here around who know the current discussion about the horrible and rediculous upgrade-pricing politic of Next Limit (Maxwell), I hope that future Vray-updates will stay within a reasonable pricing-range. As Maxwells upgrade-prices blow away all reasonable limits and FinalRender is almost dead, Vray is the ONLY profi-render-engine that is left for C4D which price is affortable for normal human being.
So I hope the future update-prices will stay within payable limits.
