Hi Cristian,
Have d/loaded preset libs, dropped into cinema/libray/browser folder.
When I open the content browser to locate new content, all I see is an empty folder. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
After posting I found the thread in the material repository forum and as Tong says, there seems to be a limit on the lib files in the browser folder.
I copied and pasted the content of the tools4d libraries into one then deleted these duplicated libraries, hey presto! it all works.
BTW I'm using R10.5 on mac book pro.

Hi guys, firstly THANK-YOU for your generous freebies, much appreciated.
I rendered the material test object 'straight out of the box'...
but is it supposed to be this dark? (rather Escher-like!) sorry, don't seem to be able to upload an example.
I have not changed any settings..also when opening the file it seemed to be looking for 'Sketch & Toon', is that module necessary?
Perhaps you could post your version of the image please.
Thanks[
Yea default material on object real dark

Hi, I'd love to post my render of the material but I don't know how sorry!!
I have C4D set to cm's so I don't think this is the issue. HELP!!

Thanks again Tong...I'm getting my kids breakfast as well as doing this...not multitasking too well I guess!
Anyway you can see that something isn't right with the render. I will be very curious to know just what the issue is.
thanks

After much faffing about I suspected something might be amiss with the model tut tut...the cube object had all its normals inverted fro some reason. Having corrected the normals here is a rendered image as per the supplied file. I would love to know what others are getting for render times. This was VERY slow- 27 minutes on a dual core 2.4Ghz PC.
The 'noise' in the glass is horrendous & various attempts to reduce this don't appear to be effective. Any luck with others....

Sorry for the normals
But the glass thhat you said is a volume hard and mach glossiness in refraction.
For the normals sorry.
For the glass ......It's ok.

Hey Cristian, your normals 'ain't normal I guess ;)
The long render time...is that to be expected due to the glass being a glossy/ hard material?
What was your machine & render time?
Thanks, Mark

hi Invisible Man,
i think your render time is a litle bit long but, the area lighting is very good for test speculars efx.
if you want to decrase rendertime you can set -1 max rate in IRMap.

Hi franz78,
er actually I already had set that max rate to -1 !
I also had tweaked some of the other settings to lower values ie Light cache to 600 & Hmsph subdiv 40 interp 40
I would REALLY like to know if the 'noise' in the glass is meant to be there as a 'texture' or should it be 'pure' glass.
Can anyone clarify...perhaps someone could post their render.
Thanks in advance
Franz78

Hi Invisible Man,
I think you showld simply incrase subdivision value in refraction/reflection.
For render time how about your pc?
I suggest you to put your glass only on external elements, and not on the sphere, this will be decrase rendertime and you can see mutch better the refraction efx.

Hi Franz78, thanks for your suggestions. As you can see the render is better. I increased the refraction subs to 20 & Specular glossiness subs to 16. General settings are 'high quality' preset. Render tme for dual-core 2.4 Ghz PC was 30 minutes.
