Have noticed a problem with pre-cached lightcache solution for running an animation. This particular animation is an exterior/interior. Exterior (IR +BF) lighting and Interior (IR +LC) was cached using a quad core machine running 10.6.1.

When running on NET Render, all machines are 10.5.8, and the exterior portion loading the IR+BF solution ran fine. When running the interior part and loading the IR+LC solution, every machine crashed when starting render. Tried to render on just one 10.5.8 machine with local IR and LC maps and it crashed also.

Come to find out that if I ran IR+LC solution on 10.5.8 machine, everything is ok.

Seems to effect only LC solutions. Anyone else run into this?

first, you donnot load the LC when you have the IR already. this setup is wrong.

then vray 1.1 was made before osx 10.6, so we cannot guarantee it fully runs on osx 10.6. vray 1.2 will be compiled with osx 10.6 and be more safe to use it. overall there should not be any differences. but one can never be sure if the new osx changed some. maybe also some network setting changed(maybe double check) it is strange that only one file makes problems. this part is os independent actually.

but as said , in that case overall: dont load the LC when you already calculated the IR, the LC is stored into the IR, when you load the LC again you have the secondary GI 2x, this is not what you want;-)

Thanks Stefan. Guess overlooked loading LC map after IR and LC already calculated, then incorrect setup. Will be doing another run on project and see the difference it makes.

Cheers

Just a follow up. The problem was the LC map being loaded twice. IR maps work the same for 10.5 and 10.6.
