hi

My MacPro (3,1 quad 3Ghz) has 24GB Ram. I am rendering a scene at the moment, and whilst waiting for it to finish I was looking at the RAM in the activity monitor. I have 17GB free, even though there is about 4GB in virtual memory. Is it possible to assign more 'real' memory to apps?

Thanks

Mark

What is the best value (in % of entire memory) in this setting

Lets say that if you have 10GB of ram, what value should you set in vray? 50% - 5, 6, ... GB?
How does this affect the rendering process? does this helps if vray is crashing (vith large scenes) when it gives not enough memory error?

and just to be clear - the setting is Raycaster - Dynamic memory?

thanx

yes the raycaster memory.

i set it to ca 35-50%.
more than 10000mb will not be needed i guess.
if you ave 10gb i would try with 4500mb

also it is always most efficient to use as small as possible buckets.i found out some people think big buckets are faster. the inverse is true (until a certain value, i would not get below 36px)
