On occasion any lights that I try to build w/ interior shots, fail to illuminate the scene as planned. The scene scale is right, the transparent materials working correctly and the wattage of the lights set as they should be. But to no affect.

In the second scene, I had to duplicate my lights, increase size and make invisible, just to get some light in the scene.

Other times it works as planned and there's no further tweaking needed.

It would be more convenient if the Area-sphere had a controllable falloff range.

This shot is rendered, with an overlay to show the light size.

Seeing as I never actually asked a question.

Does the size of the light not always have to represent the size of the bulb in question?
I would have thought it did, but that usually causes the problem I'm having above.

Also, when you do get the values right, the lights have a tendency to 'blow out', what's the best method of prevention for this?

i reality there is no variable falloff of light.

the fall off of a light is controlled by the intesity.
the same it is in vray.

why your lights dont do as you think i dont know, can you post a scene file so we can look at your settings?
here they do very much what i think, maybe it is a setting thing.

cheers
