SSS, do you mean Subsurface scatering....

cuz i dont think this is SSS.
It's commonly referred to as 'SSS'
It's affect is subtle as was intended,
just a little scattering along the surface to break
up the light, giving a somewhat synthetic material feel
with a smidgen of translucency.
Make your own comparison.
