Hola,

i would like to create something similiar to this -> http://www.thisoldtractor.com/gtbender/mg_images/reflector_red.jpg

normally i would model these little pyramids which are inside the reflector-
put them in a cube or cylinder and render it with a glossy transparent plastic shader.

but i think this material will take too much rendertime for an animation.
maybe you got a good texture solution? using normal map instead of the
polygon pyramids?

thx for any suggestions!

just search for a good picture and use it as a texture... it depends on the LOD, if this is enough

i would use a bump or normal map. if your pc is fast enough, displacement would be the best, but i think good bumpvalues will also work..
the pics are from maxwell material repository.

thx mates, :)

this is the same texture i found at the maxwell site. :)
maybe its more a question about the model instead of the texture.
i will try all variations :)
