Hi you vray people,
here is the first vray project i have done some weeks ago. I installed vray in the morning and sent the pictures to the customer in the evening... :D
vray is really great fun and easy to learn in my opinion. Hope you like it.
cheers Andre

hi titane357, hi hiro
thank you!
i used physical sun and sky and about 110 downlights and beam lights with ies-data. All reality like...
The settings are: Irradiance map -3, -2 subdivision 60 int. samples 20 and lightcache subdivision 500, passes 4.
Adaptive DMC min 1, max 4, Color Mapping Exponential 2 1,7 0,8 and subpixel mapping.
I never use the presets of vray, i use this setting above and try to optimize, when there are problems like artefacts or so... :D
cheers Andre
ps. rendertime for the pictures about 20 minutes on a core2extreme QX6700

the gi calculation works very fast with this setting, rendering the image needs some time because of the glossy reflection i think...

Impressive render.
I have a similar scene I'm struggling with.
Would you mind explaining how you've dealt with your textures? Have you reduced their brightness or gamma?
Are you using a 0.05 or 1.00 intensity sun?
Could you explain your workflow - do you set up interior lights first, adjust camera settings, then do color mapping?
Thanks :)

hi edub,
i always work with textures with reduced saturation. I have done this already with the advanced renderer, because i think that the problem of most computer visualizations are the over saturated colours. The Monitor rgb system can show colours that you never can use in reality to bring it to your furniture e.g.
The setting of the sun is default 0.05. The workflow you describe is exactly what i have done. I first set the sun and then the downlights with a TC-TEL 42W IES-data. Then i adjust the camera setting, until i had the right impression of light. The colour mapping is then used to control the contrast.
I hope, this will help you.
regards Andre
Thanks Andre.
I assume you've also used physical camera?
Thanks Andre.

i dont think so, andre wrote, that his sun has the default value of 0.05.
This is too dark for the phy cam.
Thanks Andre.

well, i use physical camera and a physical sky of 0.05 - and it works ok. I have to set my camera settings to f/4, 1/50sec shutter speed, and ISO 800 film, but those aren't unrealistic settings in real world.

hi,
yes, i have noticed that my sun settings are wrong for the phycam. (like in the breakfast room). But it works, cause the camera settings are suited to it, even if it is not physical correct.
I swear i will use the right sun and camera settings in the future... :D
cheers Andre
