Uploaded material problems....

Hi all,

I have been trying to use some of the user uploaded materials here and everything renders black. I am on Win XP Pro, C4D 10.111 and vray 1.05. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be great!

Start by telling us which materials give you problems.
There might be a texture in there that you didn't link properly.

the "turned metal" and the "mother of pearl" render totally black. it's not the material or texture. It's the lighting setup. if i crank the lights beyond ridiculous levels, i can start to see the material and model. am i missing something in the render setup? I have everything updated and installed properly but the lighting setup in most vray scenes is really messy. I have been trying to find a really good test scene and I got one from a friend on www.renderosity.com who uses vrayforc4d and the scene work great and just like he had it. But these material scenes have lighting setups and everything ready but nothing works.......

Make sure you use centimeters in your preferences.
Most scenes should be calibrated to use that scale (which is important in Vray).

that would probably help....i use inches since i import lots of my models from Vectorwoks....im gonna go try that now...thanks for the tip! :)
