View Full Version : texture missing in NetRender V11.5

i have had issues with missing textures from the HQ Plants Vol1 collection, when rendered via Net Render.
The only thing that helped was copying all textures to the tex folder of the network render folder.
i am not 100% sure, but i think this worked in R11.
the textures are referenced as
preset://hq_plants_vol_1.lib4d/vray_proxy_pc/tex/... and are always fine when rendering from within cinema.
i ahev also tried to copy the .lib4d file to the library folders of netrender, but without success.
another thing: didn´t you mention an update of all HQ Plants libraries ?
Has this already been done and i missed it, or is it still coming?

well the ´textures in the .lib files are no accessable on the net clients, therefor you get an error. therefore, yes it is very good to place them in tex folder of the project, then c4d will trsanport them automaticly to the netclients( i thin from the libs it wont do that)

yea it coming, need more time, seems fry and maxwell not so integrated as vray so we having some serious troubles that need to be fixed.

after project done, needs to Save as project, so all texture pathes to lib4d become relative, it can help with NetRender.

Hi there Tong,
I bought Vol 1 of the HQ plants. what's the recommended placement for the proxies if you want to render a scene with your ready made proxies. Does each client need a copies of all the proxies? Where do they go?

the same path as for one PC or MAC
proxy path absolute, so you just copy needed proxy files to proxy path that used on one computer
vol1 on pc for example:
c:\Program Files\MAXON\objects\hq_plants_vol_1\proxy\
so when render starts, c4d will found local proxy files.

Thanks for the reply Tong.
I have one more questions. I've upgraded to 11.5, and now for some reason, when I go to grab a vray proxy from my preset folder in my content browser, instead of the material being linked to just itself, ie bark_acacia.jpg, now it's linked to preset:// blah blah. When I open my old copy of r11, it's doing the same. what happened? Did I install something wrong? why would my old copy now have this problem. My eyes are dropping out of my head. Maybe I'm tired.

well it was always like this, since when you saving proxy preset in lib4d it saves with textures in tex folder.

Hey can you recommend a way to vary the look of the trees in a group?
A have a group of a bunch of instances that reference a vray proxy object. I try to bring in a random effector into the group of instances and it doesn't "effect" them. Any recommendations? There are too many instances to bring in a real hq tree, too many polygons and the comp just slows down to a crawl and just about freezes.

I'm noticing something weird. Some of the hq plants don't show up when previewing with render region but with a full render, they are there. Any ideas why this is?

or you mean spreading on surface and scaling ?

there is bug in vray when switching between c4d files, proxy from file does not renders in viewport after switch back, but renders in picture viewer

Actually that answers another question. Thanks for replying about the bug. I appreciate it.
I was actually asking about varying the rotation and scaling and stuff. But the shading too.
For rotation and scaling, I used the randomize function since the randomize effector doesn't do anything unless it's in a mograph group. It would be nice to have some kind of adjustable parameter in c4d that acts on a group of objects inside a null or on instances. Maybe there is and I'm not aware of it.
I tried using the SS channel in the hq plants texture channel but it doesn't work unless you use Surface Spread. The Mograph multishader has to be used in Mograph right?
What's the 2nd link you posted with the 2 sided materials? How do I use it? Will it vary the shading of the textures in a group of instances?
