I'm sorry to say I can not get Vray to run on my Quad PPC.
Sat all night having a blast on my Intel PowerBookPro and today I've
tried for a couple of hours on what is my main machine.
The install is exactly the same as on the Intel.
I've taken all other Plugins and scripts out.
Updated everything possible.
Run DiskUtility.
Run Cocktail.
Vray -is- loaded (Checked the console).
Vray is listed in the Effect settings.
VrayTags are there.
The Vray material Converter is in the plugins menue.
All I have to do is open Cinema, create a new VrayMaterial and Cinema crash. It does write a bug_crash file.
I've checked and tripplechecked that all Vray files are at the correct place.
My settup are as:
Mac Quad PPC 4x2.5Gh
Cinema R10.111
OSX is latest of anything possible.
Cheers

I will take a long shot and propose that you make a new user, install C4D fresh and try there.
OTOH, I had (in the past) problems with C4D that where related to my system install.
Hope that helps

Hi noseman. Thank you for your suggestion but that will not happen.
I'm the admin of my machines and there is no way I'll will mess with any extra user accounts nor re install Cinema in any way. It should not be needed and have never been a issue before.

Just out of my experience, I had crashes on C4D in the past that where 100% related to my main system install, not C4D.
Don't totaly disregard this possibility. It may not be the case, but it's always a possibility.
I know it's a hassle, but creating a new user on os x, testing and then deleting is about an hours work, and it may save you from going mad.

I hope you solve your problem soon, and start having fun on your quad powerhouse!

Hi Lennart
I have the same problem but the other way around. I installed it on my main machine a Intel Quad and it crashes all the time, but when i installed it on a ppc quad it runs perfect and i did the installation exact the same way.
Sorry i cant help but as i said it definitely works on PPC.
Cheers

Thanks again. Since it is only related to Vray I'd rather wait for a update and check again. I'm in no hurry.
That said, even if I have tripple checked everything possible, it could still be something I do wrong.
Anyone running Vray with the same setup? (Quad PPC, R10.111).
Cheers

I'll probably follow your advice Lennart. I seem to have stumbled into a few instability issues.
Let's wait and see what the next few days bring.
Cheers!

Solved. I downloaded the R10.111 updater to update Cinema "again" only to find out that the version on my Quad PPC was R10.102.
For some reason unknown I've managed to update all my machines -but- the main station.........
Cheers and sorry for stirring up, too excited I'd guess for my own good.

I am having the same issue but I am using C4D 10.5 and OS X 10.5.4 on a G5 Powermac Quad PPC.
I just bought Vray and haven't been able to do anything yet. When I try to create a new Vray material C4D crashes and generates a bug report.
so send bug report to info@vrayforc4d.com

Yup, sent in my bug report. I tried reinstalling the plugin but don't want to do anything drastic yet. I can render a sample scene (one I found on VrayC4d) but as soon as I try to create a Vray material I get a crash + bug report. If I go: File/New, then in the material manager File/New Vray Material = CRASH. My brand new toy is broke alwedy.

maikukaiza,
as you see the problem above was due the use of an old, not supported cinema 4d version, maybe also check if you really run the latest maxon update.
if it crashes you must do some wrong or have a faulty installation, vray runs very stable on all supported systems.
please contact me directly i can help you then;-)

Thanks Stefan,
I ending up fixing my problem. I started a new thread "C4D crashes when selecting new Vray Material" and then solved my problem a few hours later.
I sent you an email with a bug report but you don't need to reply. Everything is working perfectly now and I am VERY, VERY happy with Vray.
