very cool looking images. One thing do, You can see a very bright sunlight on the floor etc, but on the background image, there is no sunlight on the ground at all. :)

Peace,

looks good, except when I open the file and render the sun is below horizon (again, this problem).

What sun setting can I use to get a similar result?

Also, are you using cm. as units?

don`t get it, in file sun is above horiz, Y=23120.393 mm :(

the sun with default settings. the idea off sun setting not to adjust it to light, but make it how it will be sun in that region of world and then adjust camera setting like real camera ;-)

well, the problem is with C4D's Sun object - it doesn't always work in another part of the world than where the file was created.

This also happened with other files in this forum.

I'm also getting an error when I unrar the file... can it be re-uploaded with as a zip archive?

sorry for being so problematic, but it's just not working :?

regarding the sun settings - here's what renders when I open the file and render:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/edub_grafiks/vray/vray_1_ew1.jpg

DO NOT ADJUST YOUR MONITOR - IT"S BLUE!!?

I'll post screen shots of what the Sun settings are in my file, for comparison.

Sun position:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/edub_grafiks/vray/Picture6.jpg

Sun settings:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/edub_grafiks/vray/Picture5.jpg

Apparently (for unknown reasons relating to Maxon's Sun settings) my sun is now located BELOW the horizon.

This happened with other files as well - mostly files created in Europe (I'm in California, btw). Why the Sun settings get mixed up, I have no clue. Can someone shed some light on this? - pun intended :)

nice choppir!

i did the same! playing around with the scene, and make some corrections! it seems, that the carpet texture is missing!
.. and i scaled it down to cm. i did a totally new scene based on tongs one.
i think i will post it this evening.

and render time looks very good, can you post your scene?

thanks all! :D

i re-design the scene, because there where some things in the original scene that doesnt look good for me. so, the phys sund had a multiplier like 4 (!) and the dimension of the model was strange.
so i decide to rebuild it, always had al look to the original. i learnd a lot, so it was quite a good training! thanks again to tong!

but i have problems with the AA, maybe somebody can tweak the settings!

allright boys and girls ( ... where are the girls here in the forum....) here are the scene:

Nice offer of the scene. Just wondered if anyone else was having problems rendering it? Every single time I hit the render button the objects are exported but Cinema crashes straight after.

Anyone else having this problem?

thanks all! :D

Hi Neil, plz delete 3 of the posts. 4 are exactly the same.

I have the same problem with another scene.
Do you render with Light cache?

Try copying everyting in a new scene, do the render settings and hit render. Sometimes that helps.

I am having the same problem. Tried copying everything a new file and still the same thing.

I've found the culprit. It's in the folder called 'raum' and is the 'wand' object. Basically it's a polygonal object of all the external walls. If you delete this or set it so it doesn't render everything else renders fine.

So either do without it or simply recreate this object again.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Sorry about the triple post! My browser was saying there was an error everytime I posted it but obviously my messages appeared anyway! Weird. How do you delete a post you have authored?

hiro

.... i dont understand why the Wand object is causing such problems.... the scene is working fine for me!

Neil V
11-06-2007, 03:27 PM
It is strange but this object is definitely causing problems for me. I've tried it on two separate machines, have copied all the objects to another document and been through each element piece by piece. The wand object is the one causing the crashes for sure. Very odd how Hiro is managing to render the file without problems but others are having Cinema crash. I even sent a bug report to Maxon over it!

Thanks for sharing thoose files ! lot of stuff too learn :)
Very nice scenes :D

1 comment and 1 question:

The carpet image files (bitmap) is missing on the original scene. (doesn't matter as far as it can be replaced by another one, and still the shader informations are very usefull)

On hiro's scene, the colormapping is set to Reinhard. Can I ask you what is reinhard setting for?
If I switch to linear or exp, the multiplier goes 1.5, if I switch back to reinhard, it goes 1 again. The 4th first are 1.5, and from "gamma correction" it's 1. Is it like preset? Or something deeper that we (I) should know about?

Hello guys lately I've been discusing with my self which way to go between VRay or FR, I don't want to make a discusion about this I just tried to see if FR could do something as great as VRay because after looking at your user gallery everthing is really cool and back then with us in the Final Render forum we have been going through a tough time with comparisons and all that stuff.
So well I changed the materials and modified the lighting to match up with Final Render, and I will love to be able to post the scene back there in the Final Render forum to light up a little bit the forum itself and be able to share some materials and shaders I did for your scene. Of course proper credits will be given to Tong and everyone involved in the modelling process and to Hiro which provided the last scene which is the one that i worked with.
So please let me know if this is not a problem and sorry if my english is not that great, mi idioma es el español por lo que no todo lo puedo decir en inglés de la manera que quisiera.

Thank you very much, have a nice day
Daniel

I'll do several tests with exactly the same scene from this topic, which is proposed on the Final render topic.

If you want, i'll post the results here

I'm alwayw in the way of testing. The objectif for me is to approach as far as possible Vray quality with FR.

I'm trying to decrease rendertime without loosing too much quality now, and test some different way of lightening.

For the image you've seen, i used a sky (not a physical, just a color), with an infinite dor the sun. I'm testing now with an HDRI, and will do some tests with a physical sky.

I would try to have 20/25 min rendertime.

My config is a Quad-Core Q6600, with 4 Go DDR2 at 633, on a XP 32 system (very soon 64 bits). My cinebench is 1314 (multi)

i want to see your test results.

comparisons are always interesting, as long as they are handled in a - you know - tasteful manner

ps: looks good! quite blurry / softened though.

BerTiN03
12-15-2007, 03:52 PM
Quite cool, I appreciate too this kind of comparaison !

I'will have to let it for a little moment, cause I'm doing Ã. challenge on anpther forum, but i'll go longer with this of course.

oups, For TOng, I precise, no post-prod for this one, and i also forgot to mention all apertures have Sky Portal light.

There's a big part of color mapping too.
