Hi,
I have some hardware troubles, perhaps you have an answer.
Three or four days ago I booted my main workstation, but the display was wrong (to small, not centered, wrong colors). I first assumed a simple "hickup", as nothing has chaged on that machine for a very long time. So I rebooted - this time no display at all. I turned off the pc and connected the monitor to the second output of the gfx board (quadro FX3500 has two outputs), reboot and voila, I had a working display again.
Made me worry a little bit, but as I didbn´t have time I didn´t think about it anymore
This morning I booted - but no dsiplay again. Actually all fans were running at full speed, so I think the PC simply didn´t not boot up (because when it reaches the welcome screen, the fans normally throttle down and are silent until I use heavy graphics)
I turned off, plugged the monitor back into the first output of the gfx board, reboot and everything was fine again.
So right now I am sitting on a working machine, but I am scared that there´s a more serious problem and probably the next time changing the gxf output does not help.
Do you have an idea, what could be the cause of this problem? As it was solved in both cases by changing the gxf output, one might think it´s the gfx board. But on the other hand, why should on one day output 1 be functional, and the next day only output 2 is functional. And inbetween everything runs fine without problems (also rebooting worked several times)
Could it be something else?
thanks,
Walli
