Dear All,
i uploaded the new update 1.2.5.5. to the forum under the usual section "here are the latest links and updates".
for c4d 12 and also all other supported c4d versions.

beside first v12 compatibility it also brings some new gi features like retrace from vray 2.0 and a new very cool BRDF material based mesh light, with full photometric control. it can be textured very nice and easy(example files will flollow), lights can be stored in material manager, it brings also mesh light mograph support.
everybody can download the update there. we also inserted all beta feedback we got, thanks a lot! you can use the v12 beta key for it. for new v12 key updates we can send them out starting at 5.1.again.
the official release with install support, full info, example files, etc, will be when we are back from short holidays, the full support as usual opens at 5.1. again.
we need some short time with our family too.
the Vray team wishes all nice holidays and a good start into new year!

Hi saber4d,
I had the same problem with Mac OSX running C4D in 32 bit mode.
I switched it to run in 64 bit mode and the crash went away.
I did notice that in a new scene, that loading a new material kinda lagged a bit.
After that first material, the others loaded OK.

Hi Lukasz,
To switch between 32 & 64 bit, select the C4D app icon and do a get info (command + I) and you will see a check box that says Open in 32 Bit Mode. Check it and you're running in 32 bit, uncheck = 64 bit. (see attachment)

You may have to wait for the C4D-Vray team to return from holiday.
Tong may be floating around here, so he may have some ideas.
FYI, this was not a problem with the previous release version regardless
if C4D was running in 32 or 64 bit mode on OSX.
Believe it or not I'm still running XP 64 on my PC. It's not pretty like Windows 7,
but it still works well.

What is 'Retrace' ?
Is there a comprehensive list of changes, as some old scenes aren't behaving as expected.
Any new procedures for flythrough animation? Or do we stick with the old workflow?

And why the really small viewport bucket size?
Sorry for all the questions, just like to have clarification before I adopt in an upcoming project.
Super excited about the release for R12 though.

small bucketsize renders faster: at the end of the render, a bucket fishes its rendering, and you have to wait for the rest of buckets to finish the picture. if you have small buckets, the can share the rest of the picture

My Cinema crashed while opening first material after start. In 64bit mode everything works :-)

I´ve seen a little error that is not important but is there.
When i render an image, i do it with the stamp at the bottom of the file on. But, when i´ve looked at it i´ve seen that puts win32 instead of OsX. The image looks ok, and the render engine works but the text is wrong… the first time i saw it i thought that i downloaded the wrong version, but it is imposible if it works in my Mac. Isn´t it?

I would like to be able to change the "default" text which stays the same other than the time stamp. This could help my work flow ID's.

It is not very Custom if the default text always says,
"VrayForC4D win32 1.2.5.5 V-ray 1.96.06 - Time __s ___ms -"
+ "whatever ronhondo types into the [Label] field"
I know this can be can be changed: the R12 beta had different default text. As I remember it included Stephans name.
The only default txt that I find useful here is the time stamp.
How can I change this condition....

as posted we had been in holidays over new year.
also we need a short time with our families. we are back starting today. the key sending started today and will take several days until all are made and sent out. official office starts on monday.
the ones that send the key request earlier should have their keys already.

Can I use the vray Beta-Keyfile with this latest release?
I´m in the middle of a procject using the beta and wanna avoid any trouble concerning a not-working keyfile.

Was it an official release of 1.2.5.5?
I have problems on my MacBook 13,3 (last version). C4D R11 64bit. When I install 1.2.5.5 everything is ok till I try to close Cinema... It doesnt want to close... I have to restart OSX, I cant even force it to quit. WHen I switched Cinema to 32bit I get crash when I add first material to the scene...

this is the version that was used by many hundreds of beta testers over last 1.5 month. we fixed all they reported.
please email us direct for help,
we have to look at that special case.
please post in the help section, this is easier to follow for us. OSX you should use always as 64bit all osx versions are full 64bit from osx 10.5 or newer..
(please make sure to have the 11.026 update at least, this is an important maxon bugfix) rest per email, we have to see why that happens for you.
for issues found after release we will release an update of course.

We have Cinema 4D R12 but not Vray (yet).
Is it possible to try the vray demo before the releasing, or this is only for costumers that have the VRay 11.5?
We would like to try it before we decide to buy the licence.
How can we get a demo?

@pixelindo,, yes a new demo is hopefully coming soon, we work on a time limited version, that lest you test in the full c4d, along with some starter help files to start more easy.
@pause: ad material with luminance to an object(not selection, it must be full object), activate "direct light" and set light parametrs in material. add textures and mapping type etc. best use photometric values. please use the help and support forum for such things!

I've downloaded it and now I'm ready to install.

Today I read the Maxon Tweet and was surprised and delighted to see VRay for Cinema now is supporting R12.
I did not get any news about this. I downloaded here but this one seems to only work with 32Bit (I run 64 Bit Cinema on OS X)
Which address should I watch out for in my spamfilter?

please check the spamfolders, if not there, please send again an email that you didnt get it and need an resending, we then try from another email, sadly the providers do prefilter all emails without your knowlegde, sometimes also non spam mails, specially if attachments and links are in it, so it might have never reached you.

as posted in forum a few bugs that had been reported will come in a service release 1.2.5.6. (also note in v12 quite some of the reported issues with v12 are from maxon sdk and will have to be fixed in the next Maxon c4d update)
we work very fine daily with 1.2.5.5 beta and final since 3 month by the way:-)
of course some things had not be found be the beta testers, as there had been so many changes in v12.
ps.: boa kwan, some other thing: we do not find you in the user data base under the name you entered in real name. please enter the correct name there(under which you bought vray) is you are real user, thanks
I'm just curious if these bugs/features have been addressed for 1.2.5.6:
1) Turning on motion blur with an animated camera & target causes some crazy offsets.
2) Inverse Square light decay. I can't seem to get it to work in 1.2.5.5

Ad 1)this sometimes comes due to maxons way (quite unusual)of storing MB data , it is no engine bug,
Therefore there are limitations atm where it doesnt work. A new mb system is in works that comes for next bigger (free) update.
Ad 2) the falloff inverse square does work fine in 1.2.5.5,
it is the falloff vray always uses by the way for any photometric light.
Make sure you have not activated " no decay", ic that is off vray always uses inverse square falloff (this is the physical one)
